Launch of RLSS Thurrock Lifesavers

Corringham Leisure Centre, 25th July 1999

In my capacity as Heartstart Thurrock Co-ordinator I and one of our own helpers agreed to assist the launch of a new Scheme, namely Heartstart Thurrock Lifesavers made up of various RLSS (Royal Life Saving Society) Instructors, to a healthy sized first class of 33 people.

I did this willingly but also as "thank you" to this group as all of the RLSS instructors are also members of Chalkwell Lifeguards - Beach Lifeguard Rescue Unit (Southend, Essex) and had helped me over the previous 3 months train for and eventually obtain my RLSS "National Beach Lifeguard Qualification"; the final assessment finishing about an hour before the Heartstart course. Madness!
