Tomoya Nagase is the lead singer of the Johnny's band TOKIO. He joined Johnny's in 1990, but didn't join TOKIO until 1994.

His best friend in Johnny's is Koichi Domoto, from Kinki Kids. Maybe this is partly due to their ages. Tomoya was born Novemeber 7, 1978 and Koichi in January 1, 1979, which only 2 months age difference. Somtimes during interviews and messages, you can hear him talking about Koichi.

Besides having a wonderful voice, he can also play the guitar!  In fact, he brings his guitar everywhere, even when he is shooting for a drama so that he can play with it during his spare time. In an interview Tomoya gave a long time ago, he mentioned that he has 7 guitars at home. Now, he may have even more!!

Tomoya's image has also changed a lot. When he first joined TOKIO, his hair was the typical teenage haircut in the early 1990s. His hair then grew longer until it went past the shoulders (see dramas "Days"). Then, before the shooting of "Love and Eros", Tomoya cut off his long hair for a shorter style. Tomoya said afterwards that he felt a bit sad to part with his long hair style, but us fans agree that he looks more "fresh" and "energetic" afterwards. He also went through a short curly hair phrase, which sadly some "critics" said was too similiar to Takuya Kimura's earlier hairstyle. His hairstyles from them on range from the shoulder-length ("Mudokono") to the short ("Seoul") styles.

Tomoya also participated in many dramas. One of his earliest is Hakusen Nagashi, that had very high ratings. In fact, there are a lot of sequels within the next following years. At that time, he was only 17 years old. Afterwards, Tomoya proved his acting ability in many dramas, like Ring Saishusho, the television version of the popular horror movie, and Mukodono, through which Tomoya received the "Best Actor" award for the season.

Besides having singing, acting, and playing talent, Tomoya knows how to compose songs and lyrics.  He helped to write the song and the lyrics to the "BAD NAMED SONG" in the album "Graffiti". For that song, he played the guitars and also produced it. If i'm not mistaken, Tomoya also wrote the lyrics or the song "Last Angel", which is in the single "Ai no Arashi".

As for relationships, Tomoya talks about it alot in his interview in J-Point. Tomoya had a short relationship with Reina (MAX) that ended due to their busy schedules. Currently, Tomoya is rumoured to be in a relationship with Ayumi Hamasaki (since ~2001). Throughout this time, there has been continuous reports of marriage and breakups, but no definite answer on the current status of the couple since they confirmed the relationship in 2001.
