| The MiG 1.42 |
MiG 1.42 vs F-22 MIG-29, MIG 1.42 or any russian aircraft are just playing catch up. You state that the Mig 29 was superior to the F-14/15/16. Although combat engagements(and a few Red Flag Ex) discredits that statement. The MIG 29 should have been head and shoulders above those planes. F-14 went into service in 1970, F-15 in 1972, F-16 in 1976.
MIG-29 in 1983. By that time we were flying the X-29, forward swept wing tech demonstrator. Soviets
finally did that in 1997 with the S-37. Since the MIG-21 russa has been playing follow the leader. Even your MIG-25 was designed as an interceptor for the B-70. Not maneuverable, bad radar, and one quick high speed run. All that money, to combat a plane that was never built.
Bob, Tyndall doesn't have them yet. But they are coming. One flew in and parked on the ramp for a few but Tyndall will not see them for at least 18 months. The F-22 training squadron instructor pilots are all at Edwards getting schooled up.
