Well it wouldn't be the first time. Mulder does have a tendency to run off half cocked.
Once again Mulder runs off without telling Scully. Would it hurt to tell his partner that he'll be stepping out for a bit?
Now I'm pretty sure Mulder did not have Wharton's permission to enter his office. Since Mulder didn't have a warrant either I'd have to call that breaking and entering.
