Dreamland II

In the scene preceding this picture Mulder has done two stupid things. 1. He blabbed way too much in a way which could have blown his cover further and 2. He took his frustrations out on "Grandma Top Gun" which was basically a pointless exercise in futility.

Mulder as Morris:  What is the truth?

General Wegman:  You mean... You don't know?

Mulder as Morris:  Don't know what?

General Wegman:  The truth - what is going on here at Area 51?  What are these black-budget projects?  We just fly these birds.  They don't tell us what makes them go.  They engineer them all up in Utah.

Mulder as Morris:  Well, if you don't know, why'd you call me?

General Wegman:  Well, I... I've seen your file.  You've chased flying saucers for years.  Do aliens really exist, Agent Mulder?

Poor Mulder all that trouble, living in the hell that is Morris Fletcher's life and all for naught.  All his source wanted was to find out if aliens exist.  Talk about irony!

General Punkesque Behavior

Mulder can be so friggin' dense.  If he switched bodies with Fletcher why didn't it occur to him that the woman he was talking to could possibly be a victim of the same phenomena.  Plus considering how security conscience these people are why is he displaying his ignorance by asking a bunch of questions.  If the place was bugged it certainly would have been a giveaway that something was amiss and any possible chance he had of bluffing his way out could have possibly been compromised.

General Wegman was right.  Mulder really shouldn't have been seen in his office.
