Mulder: S.R. 819 was withdrawn by committee late last night. Without explanation. Skinner: Good. So this man failed, then? Mulder: If that was his true motive. If he wanted to poison you to prevent you from investigating S.R. 819, why call you to tell you that? This man worked for the government that was to receive this technology. He drove one of their cars and he killed one of his own to save you. Skinner: So you still think this is about you? About the X-files? Mulder: Yes. Yes, I do. And I have an idea who may be behind all this. But I'd need your authority to continue the investigation. |
Sheesh Mulder not everything is about you. I'll admit that it's might have been this time but sometimes it doesn't pay to say it quite that way. It makes one look self-absorbed.
Why is Mulder sitting at his desk after hours in the dark tossing pencils at the ceiling? He can't stand doing background checks so it can't be because he loves his work so much. So what was he doing?
"Yeah so's your mom." Very mature comeback to whatever the guy said.
Messy! Messy! Tossing stuff on the floor while searching through Dr. Orgel's personal effects is probably not a wise move. Especially if things are so politically sensitive as to involve folks with diplomatic papers.
Dropping in on Senator Matheson at 4am: Once again Mulder drops by for a visit without any consideration for time of day.
Breaking and Entering: It's lucky for Mulder that Skinner's assistant didn't make a stink. He's in enough doo-doo as it is.
Opening Skinner's mail is a federal offense. Mulder should know better than that.
Theft: Walking out of Skinner's off with mail that doesn't belong to him is called stealing.
Assault and Battery: Grabbing Senator Matheson was not a wise move. Those officious types get upset when they don't sense you're groveling enough. In addition, it's not wise to piss off one of the few allies he has left.
