As a little girl, I was the ugly duckling of the family.
And just like my
fairy tale books, I dreamt that one day I'd turn out to be the beautiful
swan my family could be proud of.
Beauty salons have always fascinated me ever since. A
heaven of beauty, the
place that draws out the physical best of every person. In every single
salon. in every single day. ducklings turn into swans and outrageous
princesses.
I met international stylist Geoff Simpson four years back as a regular
client of Arriba in Alabang. These past four years he has been bringing out
the best in me. I've learned to love Geoff not just as my stylist, but as a
dear friend. He became part of my life. He brought out the beauty in me
inside out, he became the key to one of my biggest dreams as a child.
September 9, 1999. The ninth
day of the ninth month of 1999. With the
opening of Geoff Simpson's second salon in Manila, Bida in Annapolis
Greenhills, a childhood wish comes true. As management partner and
consultant, I get to be part of the making of the newest trendsetting salon
to hit town, Bida.
I was more nervous at the Bida opening, than in any
concert or premiere
night. Maybe because I was opening up a totally new world for myself.
