The series starts at the first day back to school at Kennedy High School.
Sam is the first character we see. She is home asking her mother, Jane for a nose,
ring and saying that everyone at school are thinks that everyone at are all the
and do not exist independent of one another.
We than meet Brooke who is at home getting ready for school as well. She
is having a brief conversation with her Dad, Mike, sho is getting ready to leave
on a business trip. he expresses concern over the fact that she has barly touched
her food but she tells him that she isn't that hungry.
The sceen then switches over to the high school where we are introduced
to Sam's friends Harrison, Carmen, and Lily. Carmen decides to try out for the
cheerleaders and blows the rest of the girls trying out of the water, and
Brooke wants to put her on the team, but Nicole doesn't seem that interested.
Lily expresses her concern over the crulty toward the frog as she prepares to
launch a demonstration over the discetion of frogs for biology class. She hands
around a petition, but Sam refueses to sign saying that if she does then she will not
be able to report on the story.
We then meet Brooke's best friend Nicole, who picks Brooke up for school. At the
same time Nicole tells Brooke that because Mike is going out of town it is the
prefect opprotunity for Brooke to throw a party. Brooke is hesitant because she's not allowed to have parties
when her father is out of town, but Nicole doesn't seem to care. Brooke and
Nicole also talk about cheerleading tryouts and how diffcult it is going to be. Having
to pick only three or four girls out of the whole group that is going to
try out. Nicole once again doesn't seem to be bothered by this.
Sam recieves her fiorst assignment for her newspaper, the topic popularity.
Sam also has some unprofessional thoughts about her journalism advisor, Luke
Grant.
At the end of the show Carmen learns that she was not chosen as a cheerleader and
is embarassed and runs away form the school.
