Which Culture? - The Light In The Forest

If I was True Son and I had to choose in between staying with the Lenni Lenape or the white people, I would take a hard time deciding. There are countless upsides and downsides to each culture. It would either be nature with the wilderness-loving Indians. Or nuture with the modernized living style of the white people. Still, I would pick to live with my white family for many reasons.

There are three major reasons that I would choose to stay with the whites. My first reason is that if I stayed with the Injuns, I wouldn't be accepted into their tribe. I would feel rejected and some of my fellow family members might even plot to kill me. Another reason is that my loved ones, (white) would miss me and I would cause heartbreaks. Though if I stay with the whites, the Indians would have already been prepared for my leave, and would not miss me too much. Lastly, most importantly, if I stayed with the Indians I would miss my loved ones. The Indians already do not accept me. I shouldn't make that more complicated. And it would not be very realistic letting a white man who has already betrayed the Indians into their village. Those three reasons are the most important and staying with my white family would probably be the wisest choice.

Both desicions are difficult, and picking either would mean starting a whole new, different way of living. Either choice would be excellent but in the long term, staying with the whites would bring much more happiness, honor, respect, and love. Happiness would come from already won respect for being the same color. Being part of a honored family would mean no pre-set grudges. Honor would come from being part of an important family, and the heroicness from the warning of an ambush that could have almost wiped out the white family. Respect would come from being the same color, and from having honor. Love would come from happiness, honor, and respect. These are all important, and without them, a life would be really dull.
