"Hello?" I answered
"Andrea?"
"Yeah?"
"This is Taylor...from your music class."
"Yeah, I remember, hi Taylor, how are you?"
"I'm good. I was calling to let you know that I'm not going to be able to come to your show tonight at Reality Squared."
"Oh, thanks for calling and telling me! You didn't have to." I said, surprised that he even remember I'd invited him.
"Well, it wouldn't be very nice of me to just not show up. I realized that since I'm recording every day and working on the project with you on my off days I should probably catch up on some sleep before the week starts again."
"Yeah, I totally understand. Maybe you can come some other time." I said, twirling the chord around my finger as I waited for his answer. "That is, if you're free of course." I added, just for good measure.
"Oh yeah, definitely. I already mentioned it to Ike and Zac. My brothers. They said that maybe they'd come with me next Tuesday."
"That'd be great. Hey, I have to head on over there now, so I should probably go." I said, somewhat sad about hanging up.
"Yeah. Hey, I was thinking about the project today, and since we won't be able to work together as much as I'd like to, maybe we should decide ahead of time what type of song to write so we can have some ideas the next time we meet." He offered.
"That's a good idea. Actually, on my way home from lunch I stopped and bought your album and I've been listening to it. It's really good!" I enthused.
"Oh, thanks! Which one did you buy?"
"This Time Around. I've only listened to a few of the songs, but they sound somewhat like the songs I write, so maybe we could just do that type of song for the project, you know, a pop/rock song with vocals and harmonies and stuff." I suggested.
"That was pretty much what I was thinking too. I'll start working on it, and I'll try and call you sometime before Sunday to see if you can come down here to work on it. When should I call?" He asked.
"Tomorrow I have pretty much a free day, besides a nine o'clock class in the morning and a guitar lesson at 7. So anytime from noon to seven would be fine."
"It'll probably be more like noon because we tend to sleep in and then work from about one to midnight."
"Ok, that's fine."
"Well, I'd better let you go. Good luck tonight." Taylor said. I could hear something in his voice, but I didn't know what it was. I let it go.
"Thanks, I'll try my best." I smiled into the phone.
"Well, bye then."
"Taylor?"
"Yeah?"
"Thanks for calling. That was really sweet of you." I said. For some reason, I decided to tell him that. I"m not usually that open with my feelings. But when he answered, I could tell from his voice that he was obviously grinning.
"No problem. Bye Andrea."
"Bye Taylor."
"Are you still there?" He asked after a few seconds.
"Yeah." I answered sheepishly. I was waiting for him to hang up.
"Ok. Well, you can call me Tay if you like. My friends call me that." I smiled in spite of myself.
"Ok, bye Tay."
"Bye." I hung up and sighed. That was unexpected I said to myself. But at the same time, it was nice to know he wouldn't be there. I wasn't quite sure how I felt about Taylor. I hadn't spent the day thinking about him like I usually do when I meet someone that I have intrest in, but I was surprised at my excitement when I realized that he'd called me. I was sure at lunch that we were both on a strictly buisness friendship level, but after his call...I don't know, there was something about the way he talked that made me think maybe he felt something. But there was no denying it. Taylor was cute. I then realized that I had to hurry up at get my car loaded and get to Reality Squared before it was too late.
