After years of wondering, I finally plucked up the courage to search for my paternal biological family.
Through the powers of the almighty internet, I was able to track down my father - Alex Tantoco. Finding his email
address, I tried to contact him via email and as timing would have it - I was soon to be married. So I extended an invitation
to him and his family to my wedding.
Disappointed, though not surprisingly, I received no response, despite repeated attemps at making contact with him.
However during my search, I did notice another name that caught my attention: Christine Tantoco... strange I thought.
Could she be... my sister? A similar first name; The age slightly younger than me...?
I shrugged it off as a co-incidence until finally months later, I re-engaged my search with a new focus - Was she my
sister?
Once again, it is frighteningly easy to find public records of people on the internet. Using my father's address
as a base to start from, I was able to track down an email address... Here I stopped again, shunting the information to the
back of my mind to allow my subconcious to process the possibilities and ramifications should my findings be correct.
Finally, again after a few months, I grit my teeth and sent an introductory email with the questions I needed to be answered.
To my surprise and delight, (albeit about a month later) Christine responded confirming what I had suspected... and informed
me that I had not one, but THREE sisters!
Christine, Sharon, Michelle - I was blessed threefold in one day.
I try to keep in touch, however response from them is (as one would expect) still quite guarded. I hope that one
day I can break down these barriers of distance and communication; of hesitance and fear; so that I can be able to hold them
in my arms and let them know that their older brother is real and despite the lateness of my discovery and arrival, I will
be here for them as their brother and friend should they ever need me.
God Bless You Sisters.
