 From the ongoing
"Kaz is dead" rumors to the infamous takeover of their
message board, the Geezers have had their share of controversy. And then
some. But the spirit and tradition of Soccer Mayhem embodied in the Myth
World Cup has brought the Geezers together in a unified team ready for
serious destruction.
The Geezers, despite
their name, are fielding a team which includes both
vigorous young players and experienced (even crotchety) oldsters. Strikers
Grinwing and BigDaddy have been anxious to test their skills in the Cup.
Due to their scorn for rules, the midfield pair of Sir Shaddock and Shilo
are definite "maybes" for the Cup. Their brutal late-night playing antics
may subject them to red cards, forcing them to sit out yet another Cup.
Captain, coup leader,
and goalie PylDryvr honed his skills in the Platform
Wars, and hopes to lead his team to victory, or at least cause some serious
carnage (though not necessarily to the other team). Aussie Goth is the
Geezer's wild card - a talented young, but tourney-tested, player used to
lag, but unfortunately prone to lagging out. GfH founding member and
long-time fullback NetRaider rounds out the team. Assuming, of course,
that his medication doesn't make him too sleepy to play. Actually, the
team will be happy if he just shows up.
The real strength of the
Geezer team is persistence. They have been known
to chat opponents to death, and to make them die laughing. Of course, the
team's primary weakness is it's reliance on such tactics over battlefield
skill. But don't underestimate the Geezers, their wacky playing and
continual humor just might be the key to taking the Cup.
