Anime is the japanese term for "animation" or "cartoon" and is used by us American people in respect for what wonders it bestows. The majority of anime is part of an original animated video series, (OAV) made from a manga or from the creators mind. Anime is generally a little more advanced in nature than american cartoons. It sometimes revolves around saving the world (ok, MOST of it does!), everyday life, saving an alternate world, going on a quest for strange things that will turn you human, fighting off vampiristic beings, love stories, the story of supernatural beings, immortality, or how to be careful what you wish for.

There are several categories where most anime will find its place. They include:

  • Romance
  • Space Venturers
  • Science-Fiction
  • Horror
  • Comedy
  • Police Shows
  • Supernatural
  • Hentai/Ecchi
  • Magical Girl/Boy
  • Giant Robots/Mech
  • Shoujo/Shonen
  • or, it just is a weird, screwy anime, such as Dragon Half or The Supergal! (which we adore!)

    Anime also tends to be either very fun, silly, and free-feeling, or dark, mysterious, and philisophical. Sometimes, it's very lovey-dovey. But that can fall under the fun category. Then there is the category for the perverts (hentai) out there: The erotic category. If you like this stuff, you have come to the wrong place. We can handle nudity and adult situations, but hentai's take it a bit too far. We have seen borderline hentai's and we just don't like them. Sorry.

    Don't get us wrong. Not all anime is the greatest thing since Astro-Goop (ahh...whats astro-goop?? Dunno....). There are some real bad ones out there such as Casshan: Robot Hunter (no offense!) and Battle Arena Tohshinden (also no offense to those who like it.). Those are our opinions and ours only. If you like those shows, then sorry. No need to pummel us with hate-mail.

    One more note of advice:
    The anime choices out there are very different and unique (and remember, you are unique, just like everybody else!), so don't feel limited to Sailor Moon, Dragonball Z, Ronin Warriors, or Gundam Wing! (cartoon network's animes! Excellent lineup!) Get out there and find some that suits you! (mobile suits you, to be exact!! ^_- Er... Gundam Wing talk again...)
