Victorian Homes of Telegraph Hill Photos
If you start from fisherman's wharf, and proceed in a south eastern direction towards Telegraph Hill, you soon find yourself wandering in a corridor of beautiful decorated Victorian homes. These homes form a scenic corridor as you walk up towards the hill and Coit Tower. Many of these homes date back to the turn of the century and survived the 1906 earthquake. Victorians also sprouted up in the place of homes destroyed by the quake and have become a symbol of the city. This corridor is one of the more posh places to live in the city, and as a general rule, the closer to the top of the hill, the more well to do. Here are an example of some of the homes in and around the hill. Telegraph Hill overlooks the Bay, the Embarcadero and Pier 39 and affords a visitor beautiful views of those places.
