ME Dissertation work (2007):
“A parametric evaluation of
jute-glass fiber hybrid composite using FEM approach”
Synopsis:
“Elastic properties are the basic quantities
that are required during design and optimization of a laminated structure. This
work is focused on comparison of theoretically predicted and FEM evaluation of
in-plane elastic properties of untreated woven jute and jute-glass fabric
hybrid polyester composites, under tension with experimental values as in
literature. The specimens have been made with different relative weight
fraction of jute and glass fiber. Theoretically, the laminate elastic
properties are predicted by using rule of hybrid mixture model, using the resin
and fiber properties together with the volume fraction
(micromechanics).Experimentally, evaluated the elastic properties by tension
test in warp and weft direction and in-plane shear test are compared with ANSYS
10 and theoretically are predicted by using rule of hybrid mixture model, using
the resin and fiber properties together with the volume fraction
(micromechanics). As per the experimental results indicated that the Young’s
modulus in both warp and weft direction improve by the inclusion of glass
fiber, where as Poisson’s ratio is decreased is in good close agreement with
FEM and hybrid mixture model.”
