Cinco and me the day I picked him up

Cinco's Story: On the 5th of May a lovely lady named Cheryl Shuett and her husband, Ken, were pulling their boat home from the lake in Pickens South Carolina.  As they came over the crest of the hill there stood in the middle of the deserted road was a very dazed and confused dog.  He was covered in ticks, his coat was terribly matted, he was starving and showed signs of having been attacked by a large animal.  They took him home, fed him and took him to the veterinarian.   They searched for an owner who may be missing such a sweet fellow although they didnt hold out much hope because it was apparent that he had been abandoned and alone in the woods for quite some time.  He went to live with a wonderful family for about a month, however, three small children and an untrained small breed dog proved to be too much stress for all parties involved. Cheryl and Ken welcomed Cinco back into their home with open arms.  He looked terrific, had gained some weight and learned a few manners. About that time I had been searching PetFinders for a companion for my other Pomeranian and I found Cinco.  In July 2002, I filled out the adoption application and emailed it to Cheryl.  She called me about 2 days later and held the adoption interview over the phone.  When she approved my application we made plans to meet halfway between Pickens, SC and Cornelius, NC.  I arrived in Gaffney, SC an hour ahead of the time I was supposed to meet Cheryl.  I feel in love with Cinco the minute I saw him.  David and I have given him lots of love and were patient during his adjustment time here.  Cinco and his brothers, Skamper and Riley  have been great together.  David is especially close to Cinco and enjoys spoiling him with tummy rubs.
