DS JO MORGAN KILLED
IN OCTOBER 1995
(LEFT) Here are PC Ackland and PC Loxton holding the injured
woman who had been shot at. The gunman was actually aiming for June Ackland
After being stopped in the street by a woman in a Sun
Hill street, a motorcylist armed with a sniper gun opened fire upon PC Steve Loxton and PC June Ackland (who since 1995 has
become a Sergeant) the bullet hitting the innocent woman. DS Jo Morgan from the Area Crime Squad returned to Sun Hill to deal
with the shooting. The assumption was that PC Loxton was the target, for he was testifying in court that afternoon and
after that, he was put into a safe house. Meanwhile, about midnight, someone poured petrol through PC Ackland's letterbox
and set the petrol on fire. The horrifying reality was that PC Ackland was the target. It was later found out that it was
organised by the mother of a young lad that PC Ackland had put away. The mother was adamant that PC Ackland had planted drugs
and that her son wasn't a drug dealer. She was then afterwards subdued after seeing the statements of people who had come
into contact with the drug-dealing son. The mother was held in custody and after PC Nick Slater went into the mother's
cell, she was smiling and grinning. He told DS Jo Morgan and she ran in, knowing that she was lying. The mother had told the
police that the sniper was waiting for Ackland at the safehouse. But DS Morgan knew she was lying - the sniper was waiting
outside the station. She ran out into the yard, screaming for PC Garfield to radio them to stop. DS Morgan reached the car,
was able to manage to utter a few sentences when PC Ackland screamed for everyone to get down. The sniper opened fire on the
car, hitting the SO1 officers, hitting DS Morgan and missing PC Ackland. The gunman then opened fire on the station windows,
shattering all the glass. The car containing PC Ackland & SO1 followed the cylist for a few yards but he hit a parked
car. PC Ackland ran out, and running back to the station yard. Officers were everywhere, trying to stop her. Inspector Monroe
yelled for Ackland to stop, DS Morgan was dead, but Ackland carried on. When she saw DS Morgan's body on the floor, she burst
into tears, sobbing: "I'm sorry, Jo, I'm so sorry..."
SC TERRY KNOWLES KILLED
ON JANUARY 3RD 2002
Sun Hill's first ever Special Constable had only been seen for three
episodes when he was killed by Kathy Milligan. Here's what happened: SC Terry Knowles and PC Nick Klein were taking a prisoner
back to Sun Hill when Knowles eyed an attractive blonde in a car. She went through a red light, but Klein thought she
'anticipated' them. Knowles went over to the woman and started chatting her up. She was getting very annoyed and Knowles asked
her why he wasn't going to give her a speeding ticket, he replied: "I'd rather have your phone number". The woman then said
it wasn't going to work, but then Knowles reached for his radio. The woman visibly shook and asked what he was doing. He replied
that he was getting her address the hard way - by going through the PNC. She quickly then agreed to give her business card,
and she rummaged through her bag. Knowles leaned forward to say when he was available when the woman plunged a steel comb
in his neck. She sped off in the car, and the prisoner alerted Klein and pointed. Klein jumped out of the car, rushing to
Knowles' aid. Knowles was shaking, with his hand to his neck, blood all over his hand. Klein cradled Knowles in his arms,
while he radioed: "Sierra Oscar from 1-4-0. Urgent Assistance required - Mill Road, an officer is DOWN, an officer is DOWN
ambulance required immediately!" Knowles was choking and his whole white shirt was now red with blood. Assistance came from
PC Stamp and PC Quinnan. They started to ask, was he shot, but then Klein murmered: "He's already dead, Dave, he's already
dead..." Quinnan led him away, while Tony held Knowles' dead body. The camera closed up on Tony as he looked at the wound
in his neck, and the paramedics came up, Tony looked away, thinking, what a waste of a life. The next three episodes saw
the funeral of Terry and the arrest of Kathy Milligan. It turns out that she had already killed her pimp-boyfriend and that
she was on cocaine at the time - when Terry stopped her, she thought, 'How could he fancy me? No one would fancy me'. She
was disturbed and thought that the only reason Terry stopped her was because he knew about the gun and the coke in the boot.
When Terry was alive, the prisoner in the back said: "She's well out of your league, mate" and when Kathy Milligan was arrested,
ironically, she said: "He was really nice, he was out of my league"
Here is SC Knowles getting stabbed

run over.
CHIEF INSP. DEREK CONWAY KILLED ON 28TH MARCH 2002
Racial unrest is high in Sun Hill (more information in the 'Episode #008' section) and Supt. Chandler sends CI Conway to a meeting HE should have attended. As it ended DC Mickey Webb and CI Conway said goodbye
and DC Webb was walking away when he saw a motorcylist with a petrol bomb in his hand. The bike was speeding towards CI Conway's
police car. DC Webb screamed to CI Conway to get out but it was too late. When CI Conway knew it was an attack, the motorcylist
kicked the door shut and threw the petrol bomb inside the car. DC Webb, screaming and shouting was thrown back by the explosion.
CI Conway died instantly.
Here DC Mickey Webb runs towards Ch. Insp. Conway's
car
INSP. ANDREW MONROE PC BEN HAYWARD PC DI WORRELL DC PAUL
RILEY DC KATE SPEARS PC SAM HARKER KILLED ON 16TH APRIL 2002
These officers died in an explosion and fire at Sun Hill Police
Station caused by petrol bombs thrown by rioters. Some Fire Exits had been chained shut by careless builders to stop the thefts
of tools and this caused the high fatality numbers.
PC PETE RAMSEY
KILLED / SERIOUSLY INJURED IN 1992
PC Pete Ramsey was involved in a shooting at a bank raid in Sun
Hill in 1989. He was shot in the chest and was rushed to hospital. He was trying to protect DC Tosh Line's family, and in
the process was shot. It wasn't mentioned if PC Ramsey had survived after being placed in Intensive Care
at St. Hugh's but it was mentioned, (says Mike B) in passing that PC Ramsey had been killed.
PC KEN MELVIN
KILLED IN 1990
PC Ken Melvin and PC Reg Hollis stop a young man
for erratic driving, and a PNC check reveals the expensive car is stolen. PC Stamp and PC Quinnan arrive to transport the
prisoner to Barton Street, and PC Melvin and PC Hollis volunteer to drive the car back to Sun Hill. As PC Melvin moves some
of the building materials from the station renovations so he can park, the car explodes in a huge fireball. PC Hollis, Ch.
Insp. Conway and PC Melvin are rushed to hospital - but PC Ken Melvin soon dies from his injuries. SO13 arrive at Barton Street
to interview the car thief, who it turns out stole the car from an army major who was a likely terrorist target. Sgt. Cryer
is outraged that the disaster could have been prevented as SO13 had the major under surveillance and could have stopped the
car being stolen. (** Thanks to Alex Lum for this information - much obliged! **)
PC PHIL
YOUNG KILLED IN 1991
An extremely sensitive and emotional police officer,
PC Phil Young was fixated with young PC Norikka Datta and when she refused to go on a date with him, he attacked her and later
was found dead after he had fed petrol exhaust into his car.
DC VIV MARTELLA KILLED
IN 1993
Whilst on an observation, Viv Martella asked a
blue transit van to move away from the area. They agreed and was about to move away, when Martella asked to see the registration
papers and details and one of the men inside the van lifted a bag and said that it was in there, and lifted the bag and shot
her, with the gun concealed in the bag. PC Tony Stamp was with her in the car, and he ran out, to Martella's aid, but the
Van nearly knocked him down. DI Frank Burnside then crudely said to DC Jim Carver: "Don't you go all frosty on me, we've
already lost one silly bitch today..." (** Thanks to Joanna Scott for correcting the date and quote!)
DS ROSIE FOX & ex PC EDDIE SANTINI KILLED IN 2000
Both these ex. Sun Hill officers were killed in
the episodes of Eddie Santini's trial for murder. When Rosie was a DS at Sun Hill, she was following Eddie Santini to a drug
baron's house near the waterfront, when she was caught and held against her will. She was found out to be a police officer
and she was waiting to be killed. Then they found out that Eddie himself was a police officer, so when he was sent in the
room to kill Rosie, he didn't know that he was going to be killed too. They both escaped and it was only then that Rosie got
the keys (from the woman that was killed), off PC Vicky Hagen who was Eddie's girlfriend they matched another set of keys,
Eddie was arrested. Later on in the year, it was the Trial and Rosie met up with ex. DC now, acting DI Liz Rawton from Newcastle
upon Tyne that she went into her hotel room and was killed. Liz Rawton then found her the next day. She had been killed
by the people on the Waterfront, the drugs baron, that were going to kill both Fox and Santini that day that led to Santini's
arrest. At the end of the trial, Eddie was found not guilty, and went home - only to be killed by the police officer he had
been moonlighting with when he was at Sun Hill.
DS JOHN BOULTON KILLED
IN 2000
DS Don Beech was trying to warn Boulton of a danger
he was about to face when a fight started, and Beech accidentally killed him by banging his head against the concrete in a
cement works near the River Thames.
PC CATHY MARSHALL
KILLED IN 1997
PC Cathy Marshall's last episode was called Judgement
Call. She fell/was pushed into the river while chasing a suspect. They pulled her body out of the river a couple of hours
after. PC Nick Slater blamed himself for not being there when it happened. It wasn't his fault, as he had been beaten pretty
badly by another suspect. They know who might have been responsible, but they could not prove anything as there were no witnesses.
The man they thought was responsible ended up back in prison anyway, as he had just escaped. (** Many thanks to Trys, for
providing me with this information **)
