A series of sexually related killings confound the two agents who aren't certain if the murderer is male or female. The clues lead them to a small Amish-like community called the Kindred in Massachusetts who are more puzzling than the serial killer.
My Rating: 7/10
An interesting episode where the Amish-like community turns oput to be maybe an alien community. There are plenty of the early X-File characteristics in this episode, including a dark moody atmosphere, a tinge of possible alien involvement, some great Mulder-Scully scenes and classic dialogue and humour, some tense moments and an unexplained ending.

Notable Quotable:
Mulder: "I know what I saw, Scully, and I saw you about to do the 'wild thing' with some stranger."

Mulder: "Hold on to your hat, Scully, 'cause you're gonna *love* this!"

Scully: "So, what is our profile of the killer? 'Indeterminate height, weight, sex; unarmed, but xtremely attractive'?"

Mulder: (in hick voice) "You need anything from the *feed store*?"

Mulder: "The Addams Family finds religion."

Trivia
The title refers to the Kindred's ability to change sexes.

The music in the disco was written by Mark Snow and was his theme music for a TV movie called 'In the Line of Duty, Street War'.

The picture that Marty stands next to in the beginning was painted by H.R.Giger, better known as the designer of the aliens for all the "Alien" movies, as well as the alien in the movie "Species".

The Kindred lived in Steveson, Massachusetts -- Steveson is also the name of a small community south of Vancouver in British Columbia that was often used on the show for its diversity of locations.

The chant sung by the Kindred was written by co-executive producer Paul Rabwin, and was sung by Paul himself along with 6 other singers.
