Like last week, the teaser was the most interesting aspect of this epsiode. The whole premises of the episode, a kind of homage to Robert Patrick's character in "Terminator 2" was pretty lame and the injoke comment from Doggett was way too obvious. I was quite happy with the eay season 8 started, sans Mulder, but it's become rather disappointing - Doggett is dogged in his reluctance ot believe anything x-filish why Sculyl ahs been painted as a version of Mulder, jumping to mysterious conculsions all too quickly.

I repeat what I said a few episodes back, I just have no desire to re-watch this episode.

Where Have I Seen That Face Before?
Wade Andrew Williams (Ray Pearce) has been in the movies "Candyman: Day Of The Dead", "K911", "What Planet Are You From?", "Erin Brockovich" and "Ken Park". On TV he's appeared in episodes of "Larry Sanders" and "Charmed".

Jennifer Parsons (Nora Pearce) has starred in the TV series "Murer One" and "Due South". Her movie roles include "Mother Of The Bride", "A Walton Easter" and "Never Been Kissed".

Ayre Gross (Dr Puvogel) has appeared in the movies "Exterminator 2", "Soul Man", "Tequila Sunrise", "Coupe De Ville", "For The Boys" and "Gone in 60 Seconds". He appeared in 2 seasons of "Ellen" plus episodes of "Millennium", "Friends", "Duckman" and "Profiler". He also directed "The Prince And The Surfer".

Tamara Clatterbuck (Larina) has had a role in the soaps "The Young And The Restless" and "General Hospital". She's been in a number of TV movies plus "City Of Industry" and an episode of "Profiler".

Trivia and Research:
"Salvage" is loosely based on Tetsuo, a 1988 Japanese horror film.

Muncie, Indiana is the hometown of writer Jeff Bell's grandparents.

The scientists Chamber, Clifton and Puvogal are named after Bell's friends who are engineers.

This episode, with a character whose body is made of dense metal alloys, was developed before actor Robert Patrick was cast in the show. Patrick previously played an assassin of liquid metal in the 1991 film Terminator 2: Judgement Day. The line about "metal men only being in movies" was written in homage to him.
