“Laguna-Spectre, report.” A silhouetted man stood, a cape
flowing behind him, and metal claws shining on his arm.
“Jinoni-Spectre!” Laguna-Spectre appeared, laughing “Master,
you have summoned me?”
“Laguna-Spectre, are the Children gone yet?” Jinoni-Spectre
walked out of the shadows. He had spiked black hair, and a hard,
mean looking face. He wore a pure black armor, with a crimson cape
flowing behind him. On his hands were metal spike-claws.
“Yes, Jinoni-Spectre!” Laguna-Spectre gave a nervous
salute “Only one is left. We have the Child of War, the Child of
Mind, and the Child of the Future captive. The Silver Princess has
been captured. The Child of the Past and the Child of the Sword have
been eliminated. The Child of the Night is under our control. The
Twin Guardians, however, still remain.”
“Heh.” Jinoni-Spectre chuckled “Do you understand the
nature of the Children, Laguna-Spectre?”
“No, Master.” Laguna-Spectre knelt, her face low and
humble. “As the lowest-ranking of the Dei Lords, I cannot be
permitted to know more than that they are the Children of the Gods.”
“They are prophesized to have the power to destroy us Dei,
Laguna-Spectre. They destroyed the Mortis-Chronos, Lavos. They are
indeed the Children of the Gods, but Destiny has woven itself around
them. Not just in this Timeline, but in all.”
“You jest, my Lord. None could defeat the Dei, much less
them. Their power is nothing… we have reduced two planets to
nothingness while they defended them.”
“They are stronger than you would guess, Laguna. Destiny
has woven itself around them. Once they are destroyed, we can
traverse Time fully, and reach our full power. They are all that
stand before us.”
“Master, I shall get them.”
“Remain here, Laguna. To finish our conquest of the
Children, we must combine our might. Have our new ally attack the
Guardians. Meanwhile, we have work to do.”
“Dalton! I choose you!”
Laguna held up a crystal. It began to glimmer. Dalton
levitated down, gripping a large golden sword.
“You have summoned me, Mistress?” Dalton bowed, his
orange cape blowing in the wind.
“Dalton, you will destroy the last of the Children. They
currently reside in The End of Time.” Laguna held up the crystal
again, and a Gate appeared behind Dalton.
“Yes, my Mistress.” Dalton faded into the Gate.
“ Heh.” Laguna held up her crystal, and six mirrors
appeared. Crono, Marle, Lucca, Robo, and Ayla were all trapped
within each one. Their faces were all in a state of pain. “So it
begins, Master.”
In the End of Time…
“They’re all dead!” Marshall screamed, tears running
down his face. He clutched at his sword, he knuckles pale. “How
could this happen?! HOW?! It’s my fault… I could have saved them…
why do they have to die, but not me?! WHY?!”
“Brother, please, calm yourself.” Setsuna put her hand on
her brother’s shoulder “That’s not what we need. We need to
calm ourselves and plan what to do next.”
“Two variants on this Planet have been destroyed.”
Spekkio grimaced “Perhaps soon, all of Existence will be destroyed…”
“Brother?!” Marshall turned, wide-eyed “What do you
mean, Brother?! What do you mean?!”
“We are the Children of Time. Choronus created us to be the
Twin Guardians.” Setsuna said solemnly “Each of your friends…
they’re the Children of the Gods.”
“What?!” Marshall stood up “We’re… Children of the
Gods?!”
“Yes, brother.” Setsuna gripped her staff. “My job is
to open the Gates of Time, and allow passage to those worthy. I have
failed in that. Your job is to Guard the Gates of Time with the
blade to defend against those capable of ravaging it. I have failed.”
“Setsuna…”Marshall held her face “Big sister…”
“Yes, you are my Children.” Choronus appeared behind them
“And, as the Twin Guardians, you must protect Time with the Key
and Sword.”
“No, you must all die.”
“Heh?!” Marshall spun around to see Dalton lounging on a
chair, drinking red wine.
“Hello, Marshall. Setsuna.” Dalton gave a laugh “You
don’t know me, but you’ve interested me.”
“Who are you?!” Marshall drew his sword “Speak, you son
of a…”
“Heh.” Dalton cut him off with a laugh. “Destroying
Mortis-Chronos such as Lavos is one thing. Standing in the path of
the Dei is another.”
“The Dei?!” Choronus gasped “The… Upper Council of
the Mortis-Chronos? Those omnipotent who were sealed away so long
ago? Laguna… Jinoni… Kyoto… and Fiore. The Four Kings, ruled
by Mamono, the Emporer of Darkness… they come again.”
“Yes.” Dalton gave a laugh. He sprung to his feet, and
drew his sword. “Well, let’s make his fun, ne?”
“You…” Spekkio appeared in a Nu form, wielding a sword
twice his bodymass. “I shall destroy you. By the Power of Wa----ugh.”
Dalton slid his sword out from Spekkio’s chest.
“Puny God.” Dalton chuckled evilly, and turned at
Marshall. “Fancy a duel, kid?”
“You…!” Marshall hurled himself at Dalton, dancing
patterns with his sword “I’ll kill you… you all will pay for
hurting them!”
“Heh.” Dalton skillfully parried the thrusts and counter-thrusted.
“You’ll pay for hurting Crono… Lucca… and Robo!”
“You fool.”
“You all… will pay for hurting Marle, Frog, and Ayla.”
“You don’t really expect to win, do you?”
“You’ll pay… for hurting them all!”
“Heh.”
Dalton vanished. Marshall dropped to a knee,
breathless.
“BROTHER! NO!” Setsuna turned screaming.
“Eh?” Marshall looked behind him as Dalton’s Psycho
Blade slid between his shoulder blades.
“BIG
BROTHER!!!!!!!”
“I’ll be back for you, little girl.” Dalton gave
Setsuna a passionate kiss, and dissapeared. “Be ready… heh.”
“You son of a bitch!” Setsuna screamed, taking her fallen
brother’s sword “I’ll kill you! Damn you! DAMN YOU!!!”
She dropped to the ground, crying.
“Brother…”
