Chapter 13 - The Last
Chance

Setsuna stood in shock, one day after the death of all her
and Choronus’ dreams were laid to waste in a little less than a
week. They were to die
too, horribly, by the hand of the Dei and Mortis-Chronos.
They paced up and down the End of Time.
Nowhere to go, the God of War lying down, healing slowly.
“The God of Time will not lose
his right so easily. They
have not seen a fraction of my power! The Guru of Time has been slain so easily, but I will not.”
Choronus’ hands glowed a faint rainbow color. A
flash of energy only the Gods could produce appeared, and when it
dimmed down, there was a destiny scarf, life jacket, time staff, and
dream earrings in his hand.
“These are exact replicas of
what I wear to protect myself, Setsuna.
These are items given to the Gods themselves, and I will
explain them to you.” Choronus
stared at Setsuna with eyes that made Setsuna feel as if she were
going to face death at that moment.
He pulled out the destiny scarf.
“This scarf will be extremely
important to the quest I will be assigning to you.
It stores your destiny.
It protects your destiny, and only your actions may change
it. The Mortis-Chronos
can not so easily manipulate you if you wear this. Wear this, and care of it with your life.”
The scarf glowed an unexplainable amount of colors.
Purple from one angle, green at the other, and seemed as if
enchanted by something glorious in the heavens.
Next Choronus took the life jacket out.
“This jacket prevents you from
death. It does not
prevent pain and torture. Take
care, and don’t take its power for granted.
But don’t think this is the ultimate protection, as there
are things worse than death.”
The life jacket also glowed like the scarf, and they always
were the same color, no matter where and how the light shone on
them. Choronus took the
time staff out.
“This staff can help you through
time gates much like your key, but can also fend off a Mortis-Chronos,
and is not so bad against a regular foe.
Of course, this doesn’t mean you and your trusty staff can
go to the home of the Mortis-Chronos and destroy every one of them.
It can barely fend off two.
Be careful.” The staff had some invisible glow, like a spirit hovered
around it. Setsuna held
it, and imagined smacking Laguna-Spectre in the face with it.
She grinned. Choronus
finally took the dream earrings out.
“Finally, these earrings.
Wear them, and you’ll be able to resurrect the children.”
Setsuna looked at Choronus with amazement. Choronus continued. “Yes,
you will resurrect the children. Of
all people, Marle must be resurrected.
And then, Crono. The
Silver Princess and the Child of War are the two leading children.
For these two children are united.
And when they are, hope for the others come. But, you must eliminate our greatest threat.
The Child of the Night.”
“Magus?!” said Setsuna
hopelessly.
“Yes.
I don’t mean kill him.
I mean, get him back to us.”
“How would I do that Choronus?”
asked Setsuna. She
remembered Magus killing off Frog, Ayla, and Marle.
“Be a Mortis-Chronos. Change
time.”
Setsuna didn’t exactly
understand. While she
pondered, Choronus made a green ball of energy in his fists, and it
quickly spread out, and disappeared.
“Good.
The End of Time is protected for the time being.
The Gods usually aren’t supposed to intervene with the
issues of man. But,
when our proper children are involved, it’s different.
This is all I can do for you, Setsuna.
The other Gods will let me intervene no more.
I will heal the God of War, and only advise you from here.
Setsuna, you must change time to bring inner peace to Magus,
and help him avoid being controlled.
Farewell!”
Choronus used a bolt of energy to
cover Setsuna in time. In a flash, she was in Zeal, 12,000 B.C.
Setsuna looked down at the green grass, and stared at the
sky. She kneeled down.
“How will I defeat Magus?
How will I resurrect the children?
How will I survive?” |
