Millennium Approaches

“So…” Crono, now wearing a leather jacket, sunglasses
and jeans, was sporting a ‘punk’ look. He sat chatting with a
friendly looking police officer “So, you are telling me that there
is a good chance the world will end in three hours?”
“Yes.” The officer nodded “And because of that, we don’t
need ignorant little punks like you interfering with our work and
making the last 3 hours of our miserable lives even more miserable!
We have to work on weekends, holidays, late nights, and even during
what could be the end of the world, putting up with ignorant
car-jacking punks like y----“
Crono smacked the cop over the head with his sword hilt. He
jumped on the officer’s motorcycle and sped off.
“I
have to find out what Lavos is doing here. This is not the same 1999
that we defeated him in…!”
“So, that is Crono.” Nearby, a man stepped out of the
shadows. He was shrouded in a cloak, but he had long, silver hair,
and elfish ears. He carried a long Dark Scythe. “I shall defeat
him as I did the Guardia Empire in 600 AD.”
Crono was speeding over the New York Bridge. He was
desperately trying to catch up with the truck he knew was carrying
Lavos. He knew he had to, in order to figure out what was going on…
Two officers appeared beside him. They pointed guns in his
direction, screaming at him. Crono swore, and slowed down. As the
officers did the same, he instead accelerated and pushed them over
with his sword.
Then, he reached the typical-opening bridge. As he sped
toward the truck, the bridge began to rise. He sped up again, trying
to get over before it was straight up. No good. Instead, he
catapulted high up in the air. But due to his wonderful skill at
Motorcycle driving, he used the gained altitude to move towards the
truck. He soared through the air. He was going to do it! His hair
was blowing in the winds. He
could make it! It was up to him, Lavos had to be destroyed!
A black streak flew towards him, a silver flash nearby. Crono
swore. The halves of his motorcycle tumbled to the ground below. He
landed on a knee, looking up at the figure that had sliced his
motorcycle in half. He gasped.
“Magus…!” Crono drew his sword quickly, staring down
his old foe… and old friend. “Magus, why?”
“I am indeed Magus. Your Destiny is to die by my hand.”
Magus spun his scythe, and flew at Crono. “Crono, I shall kill
you.”
“Magus!” Crono leapt backwards, and flew forward with his
sword. Magus sidestepped the charge and countered with a strike from
his scythe-handle. Crono took the attack in the chest and fell. His
old foe was just as strong as him, and he knew it. Not only that,
Magus was an expert at magic. Crono had to figure something that
would give him an advantage, or he was dead.
“So, you cower in fear? Fire 2!” Magus shot a blazing
Fireball at Crono, who dropped to the ground. “If that won’t
stop you, Ice 2!”
“No…!” Crono swore, and dodged the ice beams. He began
chanting. He needed some sort of offensive spell to defeat Magus. He
knew he had only one spell that could defeat such a powerful foe.
“LUMINAIRE!”
“If you want to play like that, Dark Matter!” Magus sent
forth his Ultimate Attack to block Crono’s. And it seemed to work.
“Your magic skills are inferior compared to mine, Crono. Behold!”
Instead
of merely halting the Luminaire spell, Dark Matter blew it entirety
back at Crono, with its power included. Crono dropped to the ground,
nearly unconscious. “Magus… you can’t do that. We’re allies…”
“Crono, my Destiny is to take your life, like I did with
the Guardia Empire in 600 AD.”
“You never killed them! You were defeated, and you aided in
destroying Lavos!”
“Lavos? What nonsense do you talk? After obliterating that
Kingdom, I was told by Schala to destroy you. That is my Destiny! To
obliterate all, and reduce you and your friends to nothing. Crono, I
will take all that you love…”
“But if you destroyed Guardia…” Crono gasped, and he
burned with fury. “MARLE! Magus, I swear by this sword that I’ll
defeat you! LUMINAIRE 2!”
Crono blasted a bolt of incredibly powerful energy at Magus.
He countered with a triangle of Dark Matter, but that too failed in
comparison to the immense power Crono sent out. Magus gasped, and
disappeared as the attack consumed him.
“Magus…” Crono dropped to his knees “Why? WHY?!”
“His Destiny is to kill you.” A woman’s laugh filled
the room “He will be back. His Destiny has been changed, you see.
Your death is the sole purpose of it.”
In front of him, stood the sister of Magus, Schala.
“Schala!” Crono stared, in shock at what he saw “No…
you’re not Schala… the pendant… who are you?”
Schala laughed again “You are observant. Watch!”
She shimmered, and in her place stood a tall woman with long
green hair. She wore a tight, low cut black dress. She held a fan in
front of her face, her green eyes shining.
“You poor fool… following Lavos this far.” The woman
laughed again “I am Laguna-Spectre, the humanoid form of Laguna,
Lavos’s mother.”
“What?!” Crono drew his sword, preparing to attack.
“Lavos’s Destiny has changed. In this Time, Lavos was
never summoned. However, it is indeed here. In this world, it was
never defeated by your group, because you never existed.”
Crono swore. Indeed, the Lavos truck was right in front of
him now. He had no clue how that was, because he had seen it speed
away. The two police officers in charge fell out, dead. The dead
Lavos began to glow, and it sprang to life.
“This can’t be?!” Crono screamed. Laguna-Spectre gave a
loud laugh.
Crono weakly gripped his sword and charged at the renewed
Lavos.
“Destiny has been
changed?!” Crono thought to himself as he hacked and slashed
at Lavos “What the hell is
going on?!” |
