“Gaspar!”
Lucca’s face was panic-stricken “What’s wrong?! Gaspar, talk!”
“Life!” Marle screamed, putting all of her effort into a
White Magic spell “None of my spells are working… why?!”
“…time… ha…s co . . me” Gaspar moaned “I am not
immortal. Staying for eternity here… My Time has come. Goodbye…”
“GASPAR-SAMA!” Lucca screamed, tears falling. Robo and
the others fell silent. “GASPAR!!!!!!!”
“Lucca…” Robo put his metallic arm on Lucca’s
shoulder “Lucca, he’s gone.”
“Gaspar, I swear to you…” Marshall gave the fallen Guru
a salute with his sword “I shall avenge your death.”
“Old man die…” Ayla said sadly “Why old man die?”
“So, he hath departed.” Frog said, his sword slowly
sheathing “I shalt misseth him. His death shalt not be for naught.”
“Gaspar…” Lucca said sadly “I… can’t believe
this.”
“His time has come.” Setsuna said slowly “Just as it
shall for all mortals who stay within the bounds of Eternal Time.”
“And now, we must decide on what to do.” Choronus said,
lifting his staff up “It seems the Destiny of the one you call
Magus has changed. 600
A.D Guardia no longer exists.”
“What?!” Marle turned and stared “But that means…”
“Yes.” Choronus nodded “By normal means, you would be
dead. However, the enemy can no longer affect your Destiny. I have
given you my protection.”
“So, we can’t be defeated merely by them manipulating
time…” Robo pondered, “So we can only be beaten by physical
means. But if Guardia was destroyed, it will change the Destiny of
our loved ones…”
“You don’t have long.” Setsuna spoke calmly “If Time
is changed, if it is not rectified within a set amount of Time, it
will be permanently that way. So it is in the Law of Progressive
Time.”
“But we changed the future of Lavos…” Marle was
confused “What’s the difference?”
“That Future was meant to be changed,” Setsuna nodded her
head “Not only that, that was the Future. The Future can be
changed without qualm, but significant changes to the past will
remain permanent.”
“I believe…” Marshall was oddly able to draw his sword
dramatically again as he spoke this. Nobody knew how, because he had
drawn it so many times for dramatic effect “I believe we must
split into groups, right? Send one to the Future, and one to the
Past. We need to save Guardia, but we also need to save Crono before
he is killed.”
“I’m going to save Crono!” Marle jumped up “I have
to!”
“No, Marle.” Lucca held her old friend down “You don’t
have the technological skills to survive in the Future. Robo and I
will go. You, Frog, and Ayla need to save your Past.”
“But…!” Marle sobbed “Crono-chan… I can’t let you
go alone!”
“I’ll go with you all as well.” Marshall stepped
towards Lucca and Robo “You two need a swordsman to protect you.”
He drew his sword once more, which caused mass face faulting
and giant sweat drops.
“We go save Marle’s family.” Ayla cheered. “We go
smash baddies!”
“I supposeth that we must indeed save the Guardia Kingdom,
and the family of the Lady Marle. I have sworn myself to protect the
Queen Leane, and I shall not let harm come to her.”
Frog stood, boldly poised.
“You better not allow Crono to be hurt!” Marle screamed
as she, Frog, and Ayla were sucked into a Time Portal.
“I shall guide you to the future where Crono is trapped.”
Setsuna held her key-staff to the sky, and a black Gate appeared.
Robo, Lucca, and Marshall were sucked inside. “You must be
careful. Return to the gate immediately when you get Crono. Do not
worry about that Time, for it is destined to Apocalypse. Do not try
to save it, return immediately! Do you understand…?”
“They are gone, Setsuna.” Choronus took her hand “But
can they do it? Do you really think they can defeat the Mortis-Chronos?”
Lucca’s mother still had no clue what was going on.
“I will protect my
Crono…” Lucca gripped her gun “But not just for your sake, Marle.”
