April 04, 2000 A new Site of the Month is in place. This month it's Tha NES Smackdown, a comprehensove site with a truck load of info and humor. Check it out and see for yourself how deep it is. Also, since it is the site of the month, I added the link in the Links section. That's all for today but be on the lookout for a *mega-merger* deal that'll leave AOL/Time-Warner quaking in their boots! Confused? Just wait... |
March 28, 2000 If you are reading this, then you must have some kind of great devotion to my site -- thank you. It has been quite a while since I've had an update of any real sort so I thought it'd be time to complete my list of Games I Own. It hadn't been updated since I started making all the big changes months ago and I just now realized that my wimpy little list was missing a lot of the games I own. Enjoy reading this because in the next couple of days I plan to (finally) upload the long-awaited fan fiction based on the history of the community. Expect this to come with a new site of the month. Thank you for supporting the Warrior and all that it stands for. Much props to people who actually like this site. If you're out there -- I think you're cool as hell for that. |
February 29, 2000 I changed the Site of the Month a day early because I figured its better than a day late. I am still working on the story of our community though even though its done. I'm just too damn lazy to finish typing it and upload it. But rest assured, it'll get done soon. I am also working on some new sections for your enjoyment that will have the NES Warrior official seal of quirkiness. I hpe you like them, as they will be up and running soon. That's all for today. Thank you for sticking with The NES Warrior. |
February 22, 2000 I added a link to a site that was recently emailed to The NES Warrior. It is a clean, informative site that is excellent in its execution and presentation. It's called Plazma's Nintendo Place and I highly recommend this site since the webmaster knows his stuff. Nowadays, it seems like anybody and everybody puts up an NES site but this guy is one that actually has an extensive background in the world of Nintendo collecting. Much respect for this man named Myron from the Netherlands...he is a rare breed. |
February 16, 2000 Its been a while but The NES Warrior is on the fast track to greatness with a new section devoted to persuasive articles. The first will be posted within the next couple of days. It is based on the events of the past few years in the NES community. It plays out like a fairy tale but is completely true. Though it may make a few mad, I refuse to corrupt my journalistic integrity just to please a few people. Read it when its uploaded and decide for yourself whether you still like me. Just remember: its not designed to harm, but to inform. |
February 04, 2000 In what could be quite possibly the smallest update ever on this site, I changed the info on the Dig Dug heroes page to properly reflect his NES game appearances. It turns out Dig Dug, the original arcade game, was never really ported to a cart and I changed this all thanks to Quizzle's wealth of NES knowledge. Thanks, Quiz-buddy! |
February 01, 2000 Just a real quick update on this first of the month. I changed the site of the month. For February, its The Old-School Gamer. Few people know of this site, but I recommend a visit immediately. It has a good layout and fresh content. This site is a breath of fresh air in the staleness that is NES newbie sites. I hold this site and the webmaster in high regard for being original and new. |
January 27, 2000 The NES Warrior has been hard at work to serve you! I added 57 brand new pictures to the Image Gallery for your enjoyment. I made every picture you'll see on this site and I'm damn proud of that. That's why I ask that no one steals these from me. It only lowers the person's reputation if they do and, in some cases, can get one completely excommunicated from the NES community. Sad really...too often have I seen lazy webmasters looking for the quick route to a good NES page. Some advice for the new kids: take the time and effort to create ALL-NEW content. You'll get respect and ultimately build a great web site...and with it, a great reputation. And to the future of this web site: Look for a HUGE update to the list of Games I Own. I haven't updated this for quite a while and I have a ton more NES games now. Also, look for more reviews and a new interface to the Image Gallery. Exciting, isn't it? Just wait till its all done! Woo hoo! |
January 22, 2000 What is this ?!?! An update that actually includes the addition of new content? How very uncharacteristic! .....All joking aside, I really hope you like the new "game" I created. It can be found in the Misc Stuff section. I worked rather hard on creating a combination of info, humor, and fun so that you learn stuff about the NES and enjoy playing the game at the same time. I call it The NES Car Show and Auction. It is a pleasant mixture of pictures and text so nothing gets too monotonous. If it recieves good response, you can plan on seeing more stuff like it in the future. Just marvel in the witticisms! |
January 19, 2000 I was recently mailed a request to add a link to Emporer Nakoo's NES Dungeon. Apparently, the site is new. I wish the best to the webmaster and remind him that fresh, original content is his best bet for a successful site. Stay true to 8-bit but don't rip other people off. Especially in this time of unoriginal content, something funny or informative or both is VERY important. Once again, I wish him the best. |
January 07, 2000 Well, here in this new year things sure do seem awfully slow. I changed the site of the month because I seem to have forgotten to update that. For January, it is NES El33t -- whatever the hell "el33t" is. Besides having the stupidest name ever, it has good info and humor and I suggest you pay it a visit. Also, I would like to say to all the new NES webmasters: It might be a good idea to give props to old sites like mine by adding them in your trite, repetitive links pages. I often visit these new sites only to find some great pages missing simply because they've never heard of them. Wake up! Surf the web, do some research, make your links pages good. Thank you. |
December 24, 1999 Merry Christmas 8-bit fans! The NES Warrior comes bearing gifts! An entirely new section is up and ready for your enjoyment. It is a collection of rather humorous stuff that I've collected over the years at The NES Warrior. I didn't really have a place for it until now. Also, quite a few things have been cleaned up. Any broken links or missing midi have been fixed. The rarity list, which was incomplete, strangely, has been completed and uploaded. All in all, The NES Warrior is looking good in its new holiday duds. I hope you enjoy it as well, as more is soon to come! |
December 22, 1999 I added this update real quickly because I felt the need to express the reason for the lack of updates. I have a whole new section ready to launch but I need to navigate the server a little better. Tripod has managed to screw me once again. Fear not though, as an update will be in a day or two, whenever I can upload it all. Thank you for sticking with The NES Warrior. Your support is much appreciated. |
December 05, 1999 This is a very small update considering I'm writing this at a party when I'm incredibly drunk. Frankly, I'm proud of myself that I'm even making sense as I write this. Anyway, I changed the link on the site of the month so it actually works. It turns out that he moved servers and I had the URL a little wrong. Oh well, time to play some Nintendo at this drunken orgy of stupors and all-around fun. Later. |
December 02, 1999 Not much in the way of an update, considering I'm doing this in the middle of class. As you may already know, The NES Enshrined will be the Site of the Month for December as well. Also, to all the people who have asked me for my pics: thank you. It's good to know that all you little warriors out there enjoy the site. Finally, I added a link to a site run by a friend of mine. It's not really NES-related, but it is cool nonetheless. If you like anime, head on over to Spikezz Junkyard for some awesome art and info. That's all for today. |
November 21, 1999 The first step back into the NES flow begins with some fixes. I changed the unusually large Site of the Month pic to a smaller version. Also, since it wouldn't be fair to only post it for a couple of weeks, The NES Enshrined will also be the site of the month for December. If you have a comment or question or an NES site you think deserves recognition, then mail me and let me hear it! That's all for now. Sayonara, young ones. |
November 19, 1999 Been quite a long time, eh? I am currently working on getting back into the swing of things. I hope to have some more great features prepared in a short amount of time. Also, to all the webmasters out there who took me off their links page: WTF? I'm still here. I'm just busy with school and things. Fear not...The NES Warrior will always be here for your NES gaming pleasure. Thanks for your patience. To all the people who have signed my guestbook: thanks. To all the people that haven't: do it, it only takes a second and it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. |
October 03, 1999 Well, it looks like getting up early for school and the attraction to the female persuasion have seperated me from updating your beloved NES Warrior. I did remember, however, to update the site of the month. This month the winner is the absolutely hilarious NES page run by a certain Seanbaby. This page is all about the quirky goodness (and not-so-goodness) of the NES. I hope to have some more time on my hands soon. If so, an update will definitely follow. |
September 15, 1999 First of all I believe an apology is in order since I haven't updated in eleven days. But fear not, The NES Warrior will never die. No matter how many other "hardcore" NES fans out there set up and tear down pages quicker than you can beat Super Mario Bros., The NES Warrior will continue to thrive with original content and the very best information. Thank you for sticking with the NES and The NES Warrior. Expect a very large update soon. I can't really predict when, but I know it'll be soon. |
September 06, 1999 Just a small update on this Labor Day. I changed the annoyingly large banner for the site of the month to a smaller version. You can view that new, smaller pic here. Also, just because I can, I added another hero to the Heroes of NES section. Today, its Liu Bei from Destiny of an Emporer; a truly great RPG. Enjoy. |
September 01, 1999 Somewhat of a big update has been released here on the first of the month. A new site of the month is in place. Visit it and tell him where you came from. Also, six new heroes have been added to the Heroes of NES section that The NES Warrior is so infamous for. In addition, some minor fixes have been made to some spelling and grammar. It should also be noted that I have changed some of the music. And finally, just to start the month off with a bang, you will notice that I re-added the links section. Now that there are a sufficient number of good NES pages out there again, I figured its time to re-open the gates, if you will. I hope you like. |
August 28, 1999 First of all, I would like to apologize for the length between updates. I got the new computer but it took a little while to set up an ISP. What an incredible pain that was! But now that it's over, look forward to new things. A new section called Bonus Stage is in the works. Everything that couldn't be filed under a section will be located there. Funny pictures, fan fiction, and a new links page will be just some of the fun stuff in this new project. I hope you're looking forward to it as much as I am. Thank you for sticking with The NES Warrior. The support is much appreciated. |
August 19, 1999 Well, I called the place that ordered my computer and they said it is in but they won't complete the testing until tomorrow. The good news: I get my new comp tomorrow! Since the transfering of files will take quite some time, do not expect an update tomorrow. However, today I managed to add 13 brand new pictures to the Image Gallery. The NES Warrior has become a machine of sorts when it comes to GIF creation. Enjoy. |
August 18, 1999 Wondering why its been three days since an update? Visit the Image Gallery and be puzzled no longer. I added around 206 brand-new images for your enjoyment. Also, I made some internal changes to some of the graphics. I am still anxiously awaiting the arrival of the new speed machine I ordered a couple of weeks ago. It should be here any day now. Once everything is up and running, The NES Warrior will explode with new things such as games and new information sections, as well as new humor sections just like the ones we've all grown to love. For now, enjoy the new pics. If you wish to use one, go ahead, but give credit where credit is due. Thank you. |
August 15, 1999 Things have been mighty slow around The NES Warrior. Not much has been going on to write about. Though some good news was just brought to my attention today. Though it has mostly nothing to do with NES, Bernie Stolar (CEO of Sega of America and all-around money-grubbing asshole) has been fired and replaced by a suit from Japan. It looks like SOJ has finally been alerted to what was bringing down all their systems. |
August 07, 1999 I added the review of Silver Surfer. Also, things should be picking up here at The NES Warrior. I just ordered a new blazing fast Pentium III machine clocked at 600mhz. Now, creating new stuff will take considerably less time. The ultimate outcome is that you, the NES fan, get to enjoy more content and quit waiting on all these big updates. Its due to arrive in a couple of weeks. I'll let you know when the blessed day arrives. |
August 06, 1999 It was brought to my attention that the link to the Silver Surfer review was broken. This was because there isn't a Silver Surfer review. But fear not...expect it up within the next couple of days. Though it is my birthday tomorrow, I will try to update something larger than you see today. |
August 05, 1999 Amidst the grueling hours I've been putting in at "work", I found time to change the look of the main page once again. I really like the lettering NES games use and you'll find that many things to come will have this "facelift" of sorts. Also, as school is starting in a few scant weeks, it appears I'll have less and less time to update and work on the site. So I am now announcing that The NES Warrior is looking for competent HTML programmers to help. Job requirements can be requested by sending mail to The NES Warrior. And finally, thank you to all those little warriors out there. You are much loved for your participation and cooperation. |
August 01, 1999 As work continues on the many (too many?) projects here at The NES Warrior, I have found to add something that I feel was sorely missing -- a site of the month! This month's winner is NES Classics. It's run by a young, promising upstart who goes by the name of Sappy. The site shows mucho dedication and spirit. This site is one to watch. Also, I should be able to find time to update as the week goes on so visit early and visit often. |
July 31, 1999 After a couple weeks of much needed vacation, The NES Warrior is proud to announce that the newest section: Heroes of NES is ready for the public. I hope you enjoy this. It profiles your favorite heroes with a touch of humor to make it interesting. Also in the works are a Boss Archive much like the hero profiles and three top secret sections that I can't mention here. E-mail with your comments about this new section or anything else in The NES Warrior. Also, I recently bought some more games. You can find them in the "Games I Own" section. It should be noted that the pictures in Heroes of NES are compatible with Netscape. I figured since The NES Warrior needs some fresh new material, and pictures that work, this is right convenient. Enjoy! |
July 15, 1999 I added some new hella cool banners for all the sections as a sign of what is new and cool to come. I'll be away for the next two weeks so don't expect any updates. But I promise I'll have the new content ready as soon as I get back. Thank you for your patience in this time of great confusion :-) |
July 07, 1999 Well, some of the new sections are all ready except for the pictures. They work with Internet Explorer but not with Netscape. And since no one decided to tell me whether I should wait until they're fixed or not, I decided that no new sections will be up until early August. But, since I can add new things to old sections, I added five new midis to NES City Music Hall as well as eleven new games to my list of Games I Own. It should also be noted that since no new sections will be up for the next few weeks, this will give me all the more time to improve upon what is already ready for publication. |
July 04, 1999 Independence Day is here, and with it, news about the new sections The NES Warrior is preparing to publish. As of today, some of the new sections are ready but once again, the pictures only work with Internet Explorer. I realize what a great problem this is, but it has been a while since The NES Warrior has seen a whole slew of new content. Unfortunatly, it seems the very earliest I will be able to fix these graphical errors is early August. That is why I hand the decision over to you, the fans. Should I publish the new content, and then fix it once August rolls around? Or do I wait and post the universally-compatible version in a month? E-mail the NES Warrior with the decision you think is best. Thank you. |
June 29, 1999 It has been brought to my attention that knife.gif was not working with Netscape. That has been fixed. Other wise, it was a slow day in NES land. If you have five minutes, please e-mail with feedback. You'll automatically be entered to win free NES games. Also, as an added bonus, all losers in the drawing will be entered to win a free NES! Now, c'mon, get out there and send feedback! |
June 28, 1999 Well, The NES Warrior is now compatible with other browsers besides Internet Explorer. It took a few days to finish fixing all the files but I think you'll find that it was worth it (especially you Netscape users). Also, the free NES games are up for grabs. Send your feedback and you are automatically entered to win. No gimmicks, no strings. Just free games for any NES fan out there that wishes to participate. |
June 25, 1999 The NES Warrior now gives away free prizes! Its a new one each month! Also, in the news today: Electronic Gaming Monthly had a letter from someone regarding the ultra-weird boxing game "Ring King". To check out this article, flip through EGM issue #121. And finally, a review has been submitted! Special thanks to The Black Manta for this. |
June 23, 1999 Well, I've added a couple new sections. You can now view a load of pictures I created as well as listen to all the tunes you hear on The NES Warrior. I hope that you enjoy these new sections. Many more will be up soon as each is finished and ready for publication. Also, look to NEwS Flash for more updates as well as information and articles pertaining to the great NES. |
June 21, 1999 The news section takes on a different look as well as most of the NES Warrior. Many new sections were added though most were just for amusement. Also, since there is no more NES community to speak of, this section will be devoted to news concerning the great NES, including articles concerning the NES and whatever news I can find. Once again, thank you for sticking with The NES Warrior. |
