THE WIRE on HBO!-
(10.29.06)- The episode that I shot back in January has finally aired. Last week, it became available
through HBO ON DEMAND. Tonight, it airs on regular broadcast HBO. I'm very happy with how the episode turned out. My part
still comes and goes pretty quickly...it's about 35 - 40 minutes into the episode. (I was worried that it wasn't going to
make it, about half-way through the episode...but it was there).
THE DATE, GOLDEN TIKI, CODE OF SILENCE, AND COMCAST AVAILABLE ONLINE:
(10.29.06)- A few of the projects that I've been part of over the last couple years are now available
online. So now for those who haven't been able to catch any of the things I've done in their area...you can catch it on your
computer!
CODE OF SILENCE was the Discovery Channel film that I did back in 2003. That's available
on the videos section of my My Space page...click here. (I think you have to be a registered My Space user to view). I play a guy who's mixed up with a bunch of guys who are robbing
armoured cars. I end up being thrown in jail. (Gotta love an orange jumpsuit!)
THE DATE is Dobler's Pen's most recent short film. It won the Audience Favorite, Production
Design and Cinematography awards at the 2006 Baltimore 48 Hour Film Project. I play Ted, a guy sharing details of a recent
date with his buddies. Ted's description of events seem to be different than the woman's version of the same date. Available
on the Dobler's Pen website, click here. (Scroll down to the "now showing" tab on the home-page).
THE GOLDEN TIKI OF DJBUTI-BUTI is a film that I did with Silopanna Films in 2005. It won
the Audience Favorite, Best Ensemble, and Best Costume Awards at the 2005 Baltimore 48 Hour Film Project. I play an Agent
Smith-esque (The Matrix) bad guy who works for The Evil Mullet. It's a funny little film. Click here.
And two of the DIGITAL CABLE commercials that I shot back in 2004 are viewable online. (They're basically
different versions of the same spot.) click here. (One's called "Break Up - You Can Do This, the other's called "Break Up - Turn You On").
TWO DAYS ON HBO'S THE WIRE-
(01.12.06)- 2006 has started out with some big news. I was recently cast in a speaking role on HBO's
critcally acclaimed series, THE WIRE. I am playing Officer Ginter, one of two Baltimore Police Officers who
are assigned to take the newly elected Mayor on patrol with them, so he can get their perspective. My character has some
fairly extreme ideas on how to clean up Baltimore's streets.
It shot over two nights in Baltimore. It will be episode #7
of the 4th season, which will run on HBO sometime in the Fall of 2006.
FULL CIRCLE HITS FESTIVAL CIRCUIT-
(11.13.05)- FULL CIRCLE has already screened at the Annapolis and Frederick Film Festivals. It is
getting very positive feedback and a lot of press. We were featured in the Washington Post and Annapolis Capital in articles
about the Annapolis Film Fest.
We have submitted to several other festivals and hope to have Full Circle screened many more times.
m.o.s.-
(5.06.05)- Over the weekend of April 29 - May 1, Dobler's Pen competed in our 3rd 48 Hour Film Project.
Our film was titled 'm.o.s.' which is shorthand in the filmmaking world for 'without sound.' We called it that, because
the category we pulled from the hat was "silent film."
m.o.s. follows Guy (played by yours truely) as he's informed that his wife is missing. A
mysterious phone call starts him on a sprint across town to find clues that will save her.
FULL CIRCLE-
(9.10.04) Dobler's Pen will be back on set in mid-November. We will be shooting another a short film
called Full Circle. I wrote it, and will play a supporting role in it, as well as co-produce. Matt Mickelson (6:41,
Shutter) will direct it. Shooting will be in Frederick, MD.
UPDATE (2.11.05) FULL CIRCLE's in the rough-cut phase right now. We hope to have it ready in time
to make the 2005 festival circuit. You can go to the Dobler's Pen Blog to see production shots and behind the scenes photos.
Dobler's Pen's website has launched. You can check it out here.
(4.15.04) The DVD of Dobler's Pen's 6:41 is now available for $10. It contains the original
version of the film (created as part of the 2003, 48 Hour Film Project), an extended version (with 4 extra scenes), and a
behind the scenes feature. You can order a copy by e-mailing Dobler's Pen.
(11.06.02) The 48 Hour Film Project has released a "Best Of" DVD featuring the
top 15 films from New York, Atlanta, and Washington DC. (5 from each city). Comfort The Dead has been included
on the DVD. It can be purchased on-line here.
