A desire to continue friendships from school...... People
tend to keep in contact with those individuals that are most important to them or with whom they have the strongest friendships.
This holds true with Delta Zeta alumnae. Regardless of age, a Delta Zeta alumna will keep in contact with sisters whom they
pledged with; or their roommates in the sorority house, dorm or apartment; or members who served as chapter officers; or chapter
members they consider their closest friends. Delta Zeta provides a number of ways for keeping in touch with those sisters.
Some of those ways include:
Alumnae Directory: The National Organization publishes
an alumnae directory every four years and is available for purchase through the directory program. This
directory helps to track lost alumnae and help those who want to contact their chapter sisters.
Chapter Associations: Chapter associations unite college
and alumnae members from a college chapter for the purpose of establishing close communications and advancing the best interests
of the chapter and Delta Zeta. Each member initiated into the sorority automatically becomes a member of her own chapter association.
Alumnae Chapters: Alumnae chapters unite members of Delta Zeta in and near a given city in order to assist the college
chapters in that area and to foster friendship, ideals, and the general interest of Delta Zeta
Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteer opportunities for service
to Delta Zeta are always available on a local, regional/area, or national basis.
College Chapter Director and Advisory Board: These alumnae
are willing to support a collegiate chapter and are concerned about the direction of college chapters.
House Corporation Board: Another group of dedicated alumnae
are the members of the chapter's House Corporation Board. They are concerned about and responsible for the operation of a
chapter's house, suite, or lodge. Regardless of the type of housing of a chapter, every Delta Zeta chapter has a House Corporation
Board.
Networking: Delta Zeta alumnae are professionals in over
500 fields of work, study and service. Through the membership records maintained on computer at National Headquarters, Delta
Zetas network with on another for job placement, information or general information.
Internet: There are an increasing number of collegiate
and alumnae chapters that have a website on the Internet. With advances in technology, the Internet offers an opportunity
to "chat" with Delta Zetas worldwide.
Keeping in touch: After graduation from college, it becomes
increasingly difficult to keep in touch with old friends. Delta Zeta, through its alumnae program, works to improve that contact;
and keep its members "connected". Your responsibility as a member in Delta Zeta is to keep your address current at National
Headquarters by contacting: Delta Zeta National Headquarters 202 East Church Street Oxford, OH 45056 Or by
calling: 1-800-6ALUMNA or 1-513-523-7597 Or by updating your information using the Update Your Address form on the home page of the Delta Zeta website. Keeping your address current
with National Headquarters (and with your alumnae chapter and/or chapter association) ensures that you will receive publications,
such as The LAMP, and other information sent to alumnae.
The LAMP: Keeping your address current with National Headquarters
(and with your alumnae chapter and/or chapter association) ensures that you will receive publications, such as The LAMP, and
other information sent to alumnae. Read the LAMP online today!
SIDELIGHTS: An esoteric publication from the National
Organization to keep members informed of the current structure of the sorority. New programs, membership statistics, funding/financial
information and the Foundation are areas that this publication annually addresses.
NEWSLETTERS: Most alumnae chapters/associations and collegiate
chapters may send out a newsletter. The frequency of these newsletters vary from monthly or annually. Information regarding
upcoming events, information about collegiate chapters, and updated information about chapter members are usually highlighted
in these newsletters. The highest reward for alumnae membership is not what you get from it, but what you become by it.
Membership is both an opportunity and a responsibility to yourself, to your sisters, to your university, to your community,
and to your sorority. We have responsibilities to ourselves financially, ethically and as educated women. The light of
the flame has guided us throughout our past into the present and stands as the symbol of our faith and hope in the future.
Tomorrow will soon enough become today; our task is not to wait for tomorrow, but to make tomorrow better because of what
we do today....
