Lair of the Unidragon, Page Nine

You wait, steaming with impatience, for the incredibly incompetent performers to finish, holding your ears against the crowd's roar of imbecillic enthusiasm at the end, and shove your way through the milling townsfolk towards Krexx, who is easy to spot because of her almost 7' height. "Krexx!" you yell. "Hey, Krexx!"
At the sound of the familiar voice, the acrobat quickly finishes scrawling something on a piece of parchment and gives it and a quill-pen back to a deliriously happy bumpkin, who quickly vanishes in the crush. "Questor!" she cries when she sees you. "How long's it been, anyway?" She stoops to place an arm around your shoulder, grinning madly.
"Too long." You grin back for a moment, then become serious. "I'm sorry I can't be more sociable right now, but I'm in the middle of a job and I need help."
"Ask away," she says, draping a flimsy red cape over her skimpy sequinned circus outfit.
"Well, you've heard about the Unidragon and Princess Zenith--"
"Who hasn't?" she chuckles. "I mean, they've even heard of it HERE. That ought to tell you something."
"Well, I was wondering if you could give me any tips, rumours, anything about where the Unidragon's lair might be...?"
Krexx frowns thoughtfully. "Well, I've heard that he's supposed to be somewhere in the far southeast of Azura. The quickest way there is to go back to the capital and take the right-hand road out of town. It leads into a large forest which is supposed to be full of all sorts of nasty brigands and monsters and such, but if you head left from the huge clearing, you will come across a village where they can most likely heal you. But be careful what you say and do there--I've heard they're extremely conservative religious-types and very easily offended."
You nod, storing all this. "Thanks. This DOES help."
She smiles crookedly. "Anything for a fellow pirate-slaughterer." A moment later she is swallowed up by the crowd.
You head back to the crossroads and take the right-hand road, making the forest Krexx mentioned at around sunset. You are not far into the forest when you hear foosteps behind you.
You tense up. Very few people you meet in this place are likely to be friendly. Then again, you're not exactly helpless. You're a trained, armed, experienced fighter, and a little combat might be just the thing to keep the ol' edge keen.
But the footsteps are sounding more and more ominous the closer they come. It's time to decide: run, hide and watch, or confront?
