The ElfQuiz Parody: Basics

I was introduced to the comic book Elfquest by my friend Sean Thomas two and a half years ago. If you've read through Elfquest Book One, _Fire and Flight_, yourself, you'll know what I mean by saying that it was an instant addiction. (Thus, the title of this page!) Within weeks, I had gone through the first four books, and not long after, I was reading Five through Eight. What follows Book Eight, the climax of the series thus far, is a collection entitled _The Hidden Years_. Unfortunately, it wasn't up to my expectations...

This all seems silly now, but over halfway through the "Starfall, Starrise" story, I became VERY angry. Why, you ask? Well, it has to do with the character Foxfur - who I liked from the very short Book One cameo. In my mind, having her blindly follow Skywise around like some sort of near-wolf was the epitomy of character breach. I very nearly threw the book at a wall. And so the ElfQuiz Parody began... :)

Essentially, The ElfQuiz Parody (or 'Quiz, or EQZ, or whatever) asks the reader to laugh. It's a completely implausible series of stories that reflect Elfquest in a strange way, throwing in non-sequiturs and random thoughts, and bending the rules so as to be silly. I have planned out 'Quiz so much that it could potentially take several lifetimes to complete, but for now the beginning is what matters. The ElfQuiz Parody begins with "The Revisionist History," a series of "Take-A-Looks" (TALs) that bend the original eight Elfquest Books to my own strange sense of humor. In fact, "TAL 1: Perspire and Blight" begins with an introduction so bizarre that the reader familiar with _Elfquest_ will probably jump out of his/her chair and scream rabidly. It's all done in good taste, I don't mean to degrade _Elfquest_ or its creators, and I don't claim any rights on this fanfic.

I'm currently working on TAL 2. It's being done from one of my remaining copies, but numerous revisions and clarifications have been and will be made. Still, it will get done! Each chapter takes a couple hours, and even afterward, there might be a typo or two (though I am fairly efficient at correcting them). If you don't like 'Quiz - and a number of people probably won't - tell me how it could be improved *before* you flame me. "The ElfQuiz Parody" is intended as humor, and should be treated as such. Also, since there are certain "rules" that define how 'Quiz works, I'll include them here.

I. The text itself

A. Speech and thought

1. Human speech will be bold to indicate its difference from elf speech.

2. Thought, by any species, will be in italics. So, human thought will have both.

B. Paragraphs and sections

1. Scene changes are indicated by three stars before the next line. Example:

Cutter asked, "What is the meaning of life?"

***
Forty-two nights later, he had it.

2. Since characters separate into different groups, expect to see coverage for each group.

More rules later. Ready to see 'Quiz for yourself? Here's a slightly different Table of Contents...
