Batu Ferringhi
Travelling west along the coastal road, away from Tanjung
Bungah, is Batu Ferringhi. A low lying area with a sweeping strand and
casuarinas, it is the most famous of Penang's beaches. Several hotels
of international standard may be found along its shoreline. Here, guests
have many sporting activities to choose from, such as parasailing, jet
skiing, wind surfing and water skiing. Dining is a delight with nearby
restaurants offering a variety of seafood, local, Continental and Asian
dishes. The roadside is also lined with numerous stalls selling handicrafts
and souvenirs.
Off shore from Batu Ferringhi are the deserted islands
of Pulau Bidan, Pulau Telur and Pulau Song Song. The crystal clear waters
around these coral islands are ideal for swimming, snorkelling, scuba
diving and fishing. Most of the beach hotels offer sea cruises to these
islands.
