Hello again:
I have been busy working on my family genealogy and have traced back over 400 years and
over 12 generations. My line goes:
Jeffery Finney (abt. 1532-1586); Robert Finney (1568-c.1638); John Finney (1610-1686/87); John
Phinney (1638-1718/19);
Benjamin Phinney (1682-1758); Zaccheus Phinney (1720--1751); Zaccheus Phinney (c1751-abt.1824)
James Phinney (1779-1868)
Ellijah Phinney (1819-1895); Zaccheus Phinney (1848-1920); Authur Phinney (1810-1971); Kenneth
Phinney (1911-1988); Kenneth was my father.
Zaccheus (c1751) came from Massachusetts MA to Annapolis County, Nova Scotia and that established
my family line. I also have a copy of the family coat of arms . A copy was given to my grandfather (Arthur) when a Mr.
W. I. Morse from the States
wanted to join the Mayflower Society and traced his roots and found a "Phinney " in his
family tree , which was part of our tree, who was an ancestor of John Phinney(1638) who married Mary Rogers (daughter of Thomas
Rogers -Mayflower family). Through his searching he wrote a book and obtained a copy of the coat of arms from England.
The motto on the coat of arms is: FORTEM POSCE ANIMUM. I do not know what it means.
So we are one of the Phinney clans in Nova Scotia.

My FINNEY brick wall....I have been trying for years now to find the birth parents of my great great grandfather.
His name is Isaac Finney and was born about 1832 in Tuscarawas County Ohio. His Civil War Military and Pension records indicate
a Tuscarawas County birth. His marriage records does not list parentage, nor does his obituary. His death record indicates
a Tuscarawas County birth as well. He is found in neighboring Coshcoton Coiunty in the 1860 and 1870 cenus, and I cannot locate
him in the 1850 census. He was buried in Tuscarawas County in 1874. Perhaps his parents passed away at a early age and he
just thought he was born in Tuscarawas County??? My Grandfather left a note stating that the Irish came into the family from
the ORR family ( Isaac married Rachel Orr in 1853 ), so I have been focusing on the English Finneys as of late. If you have
a Isaac Finney in your line that was born in the early 1830's anywhere in Ohio, I would like to compare notes. Many thanks.
