News and Opinions

Thurman to be put on the Wall

Thurman Thomas, one of the games best all purpose backs, is going on the Wall of Fame during the home game against the Miami Dolphins, the team he was most intense against and the team he joined briefly for a year, If you have not read the article, republished from NFLTalk and an article I got a thank you letter from Thurman for hosting, I recommend reading it. Thurman is worthy of the Hall of Fame and I am very happy to see his name going on the Wall.

Tailgate Time Again

It is Buffalo Bills game tailgate time again. Jay Rosen (a.k.a. Jåy Ró§eñ on the stadium wall) is buying tickets for the home opener game for the Stadium Wall crew. Opener tailgate will be held again at the World Famous (they have heard of it in Australia and Germany) Hammer's Lot for the fifth consecutive year. If you want to park in Hammer's Lot get there early for parking fills up quickly with new 9 AM opening rule for stadium lots! Hammer does not have such a 9AM rule but he does have a vicious guard dog named "Buddy" who patrols the lot watching out for your car!

2004 Draft - Bills make move again

Donahoe surprised people by taking a WR again in the second round, a WR from Miami; the rumor about Buffalo becoming Miami North is not true but knowing Spanglish in some neighborhoods would be helpful.

New picks for a new head coach.

Schedule Released - Sort of like drinking Half and Half

The Bills have one national appearance and against the Patriots in their stadium on ESPN. One home Saturday game on ESPN against Denver. Other teams such as Washington Redsucks, whose team sucked most of last year in a weak division in a weak conference, gets multiple national appearances on MNF and ESPN. Madden is a jerk and I hate watching MNF since he joined so I am not too disappointed with MNF loss but I hate seeing the league trying to help certain teams sell merchandise while others are neglected.

The NFL cares about ratings first and the fans last which will come back to bite them I think. Last year and two years ago they moved games to help ratings (i.e. 2003 Buffalo vs Redsucks game was moved to 4 PM) so fans now need to consider twice and thrice whether they wish to invest their money before going to games. If the league continues this, the only ones who will be willing to pay to go to games will be those with season tickets and those with money to burn; stating it that way makes me realize that may be their actual goal.

The GOOD news about the schedule is: 1. Bye week occurs in middle of schedule allowing Losman and company to get a breathing spell before going into 2nd half of schedule. 2. Most of the NFC games are earlier in season and a weak start will not hurt the Bills as much as last year. 3. There are no long stretches on the road.

The Bills need to do best they can with a poorly dealt hand.
Sometimes you can draw to an inside straight.

Good bye former Bills - You will always be Bills in our hearts

Jennings is now an over-priced 49er (does he get Rob Johnson's discount on band aids?), Drew Bledsoe is a Cowpoke (you knew that was coming when Parcells traded his first round pick to Buffalo, right?), Pat Williams is a Viking and Pierson Prioleau went home to Daddy (Gregg Williams). Free agency and Bills management have made it very difficult to want to buy a jersey for very quickly the laundry is outdated but I went out and splurged and got the Big Man Mike Williams' jersey.

Free Agency sucks but like Democracy it is best solution found

While you are in Buffalo

While you are in Buffalo I recommend checking out Park Avenue Coat Company on Route 5. I was able to pick up a few coats for my daughter at a real bargain but inspect items carefully. A good guide to Buffalo is Classic Buffalo and it is created by a former Steelton neighbor and classmate of mine Rob Czyz.

The best part of a new season is meeting new and old friends.

Next year is the mantra again

Some changes necessary for my new job

With my new job comes shift work and that includes working days, evenings, Saturdays and even Sundays! I unfortunately will not be able to see as many games as I did in past and site updates will not be as frequent. Sorry to the few people who will miss the updates.

Some changes even though painful are needed.
