to buy custom built computers from sim lim square = paying less for defective parts, & later spending time & effort to find out which from inside that metal case.
i ve heard of this saying that sl square is able to sell at lower price coz their parts are those that passed QC not on the 1st test but after a few rounds. that means they are likely to work at the beginning but just don't know for how long. come to think of it, how else can they justify the lower price, if not for this reason?
so on the other hand, i shouldnt be complaining coz i ve paid less for those parts to begin with. or is it that PC is just so infested with problems, hardware & software? if only max come out with a mac version, i m gonna switch over. :: daydreamer 2/27/2004 01:44:00 AM [+]

after abt a year half of it, it seems finally my days of being free (freelance!) is seeing its end soon. initially i started out telling myself this would not last that long, as soon as my short film is done, i m outta it. now i can never explain how in a blink of eye i ve been doing it for this long already. probably the truth is i m just too lucky to ve too great a first job in my last company, that i find it hard to work in another crappy place.
nevertheless, such blessed days can't last long without me feeling the strain. so it s good that a good offer comes along the right time. my mindset is ready to go bck to working life & my freelance work also helped me build up a good showreel for a good pay jump. a small regret is that my short film is still far from complete. in fact, i m still trying hard to finish up some aspects of it, so that it would be easier for me to start on it again. should there be a chance. or i ll make another chance. i do not & will not ve any unfinished projects : )
i started thinking abt the major difference of working life from my freelance days now. perhaps lesser blogging (not that i m blogging so frequently), lesser time & mood for photo snapping, lesser icq chats, lesser sleep. all this for the false sense of security ah huh. yah i remember it s an online fren who got this thing abt 'there is no such thing as security in time like ours' into me. like a sudden divination, this new perception on life got stuck onto me.
my days of being free are wonderful in every way, & i feel more free at heart, although i m really not that free working on my own animation, if not that, slaving away at odd hours on freelance projects. however, i never try convincing any friends abt that. in sg, it s really hard for them to believe a jobless man can be busy. nevertheless, to me, the days are fruitful indeed, esp for ppl like me who don't like wasting myself away. the best of it must be that i wake up every morning knowing i m doing something i like.
then again, i guess such privilege cannot be permanent. i can only treasure these days of freedom & move on when the chance arrived. i m more than glad to go back to working life, but that s only for the sake of many more days of being free to come in future, you see :P
thus, long live my high spirits for passion! long live freedom at heart! :: daydreamer 2/26/2004 01:37:00 AM [+]

i ve known abt cordiane addiction arising from cough syrup but ve put it off my mind until i read abt it in the papers a day ago.
last week after the visit to the clinic for my swollen eyes, i also carry bck some of the viruses, as expected in view of my declining immune powers over the years. in order to curb the possible outbreak, i took leftover cough syrup upon the 1st sign of cough syndrome, for every night the last week. but i suspect it is also the peaceful sleep it gave me that prompted me to want to take it.
when i m alright now, i find myself having problem going to sleep for the past few days without the medication. last night shown some improvement but then i woke up 5 plus am & couldnt go back to sleep until much later. still i m glad, coz i read that some ppl has got worst side effects from the addiction. it even drives normal law-abidding person to try all means illegal to get hold of the cough syrup. it is also news to me that drug addicts use it to get away with urine test. & also doctors getting revoked over excessive prescription of the medicine to patients. so now, sleeping problem or not, i m not going to take cough syrup for that matter.
also a good thing my sis has just bought a foot-massaging machine, electro-reflexologist, which comes with a electric eye massager as free gift. i don't like using the electro-reflexologist coz i can't stand the feeling, or the idea, of electric current running thro my legs (which i don't think is how the machine works actually). but the eye massager is shiok! & it looks like those hi-tech eyewear in ghost in the shell. :: daydreamer 2/22/2004 12:54:00 PM [+]

'As a co-production of SBSi and SM Entertainment, "History of BoA" let us read BoA as a book by first of all taking a look at how this mega icon showed her charm in her debut audition and her very first TV show. Coming along are a lot more never-exposed video clips, song clips from SBS Popular Song Stage, fan-meeting scenes, overseas promotions and the making of many of her greatest hits' music videos! This 2-DVD set especially carries BoA's "Self Interview" in which this unrivaled entertainer, who has already dominated both the Korean and the Japanese music industries by the age of 16, tells her story of stardom all by herself. '
above product summary by yesasia. i only found out its release through random browsing. wonder why it isnt announced on either of her korean or jap official site. i think it s strictly for fans but arent i a fan too? so must buy? haha!
also find out she has got a photo book naturelle out last dec. but it s really too much to pay for it. absolutely for die hard fans, who have that kinda money to spend. :: daydreamer 2/16/2004 08:24:00 PM [+]

i tried to refresh myself with my IXUS 's DOF. it s indeed capable of that kind of shallow DOF. just that i m not skillful enough to use it in spontaneous shots.
an unlucky day for me yesterday. i already know my allergy to aspirin from a unforgettable incident. now all of sudden, i ve got seafood allergy too??!! yesterday 's night dinner was a dish which includes beancurds, mushrooms & prawns. as soon as i finished the last bite, the swelling hits me. one by one, what looks like mosquito bites appeared ard my eyes.
all this while, for unknown reasons, my eyes would ve these 'mosquito bites', even i did not take any aspirin. but nothing serious, usually subsides pretty soon, only causing embarassment when i m out on the streets without knowing how i look. i thought it would be the same last night but the little bites slowly merged into a ugly swell. no choice but to go to docs. he gave me an injection which is supposed to be less painful than the one i got last time. it s painful nonetheless. though i think i shouldnt complain & act tough abt it.
i never have such allergy when i was little. i always thought they come upon birth. seems like they ve developed in my body over the years. bird flu now & i ve seafood allergy ... wonder if i should be a vegetarian. :: daydreamer 2/11/2004 02:03:00 PM [+]

from now onwards, i m switching to konota at peninsula plaza to develop my digi photos. i ve got back the prints for the chingay & a few others, & really like the quality. i didn't expect them to match the colours on com screen so closely. it is better than what i got from fotohub last time. what 's more, last i read, fotohub charges 5 cents more for white border, which i cannot understand. konota also prints the index free.
the only setback this time round is i ve got the size for 4R slightly wrong all this while. i always cropped the photos myself to the 4R size before sending them to print. i ve added the white border myself too. coz i m using wrong measurements, the borders din turn out right. i ve to resort to some cutting myself to fix the problem. :: daydreamer 2/06/2004 10:39:00 PM [+]

the last patch of Chingay 2004 pics. the antique cars.
Photoshop CS 's new 'lens blur' filter has been used for depth of field in the pics. it s a good filter but i can't figure how i can get those kind of DOF effects with my IXUS 400. or maybe SLR zoom lens is really beter in this aspect? :: daydreamer 2/03/2004 10:24:00 PM [+]
