We took the van and Gary and I got talking. “Man, when you told me about this chick and how you thought she was ‘the one’, I was like no way. Not Ike. I didn’t expect you to be so serious so early on. Then when you told me you were marrying her, I couldn’t believe it!”
I smiled. “You have to learn to trust me more, Gar.”
“Obviously. How long have you known her again?”
“It’s gonna be eight years this November,” I replied.
“Cool,” Gary said.
“Yea,” I smiled, beginning to think of Jenn.
“When did you know?” Justin asked. “I mean, that she was the one.”
“When I met her,” I replied simply.
“Seriously?” Gary asked.
“Yep. It was just like, wow. Ya know?”
“Not really,” Justin replied.
I smiled. “You will. When you meet the one, you will.”
It only took about two hours to find the right size tuxedoes for each of us. Jenn and I had talked and decided on basic black tuxedoes for the men and gowns of a light pink color for the women.
When we got home, Justin and Gary left right away. We were all pretty tired.
Suddenly, I felt two arms go around my neck.
“Hey, Ike!” Zac exclaimed.
“What do you two want?” I smiled.
“Oh, nothing,” Taylor replied, grinning.
“You looked mighty fine in that tux of yours, you stud muffin, you,” Zac joked.
“Umm…Zac? I’m already getting married…”
“You ARE? Do I know her?”
“Zac, stop being retarded,” I smiled.
“Okay, if you insist.”
“Ike, you look kinda sweaty,” Tay said as he saw Jessica pushing Jennifer the same time they were pushing me. “Maybe you should cool off!” Tay exclaimed, pushed me in the pool, and ran back, as to not get splashed.
“Taylor!” I yelled. “I’m gonna kill you!” I turned around and saw Jennifer struggling to keep herself up in the deep end. I smiled, swam over, and helped her over to a depth where her feet could touch.
She smiled and said, “Thanks.”
“No problem,” I replied.
“I missed you,” she said.
“Me too,” I replied.
“How did you make out?”
“Really good. Everyone’s done. We just have to pick them up in a couple weeks. What about you?”
“Basically the same. Morgan looks so adorable in her dress!”
“You must look mighty fine in yours,” I said.
Jennifer blushed. “I can just see you in your tux. Oh baby!”
I smiled and neared in for a kiss.
“Ike, Jenn, dinner!” Jessie yelled.
“Okay, Jay. We’ll be right there!” I replied using the nickname her friends had given her.
“No, now!” she yelled.
I moaned.
“C’mon. Let’s go,” Jenn said.
“Okay,” I sighed.
“Hurry and get dry! Both of you! Your dinner’s going to get cold!” Jay exclaimed as she took one of each of our hands in hers and dragged us to Jenn’s yard.
“Oh, wow,” Jenn breathed when she saw the candlelight dinner out on her patio.
“Sit down, sit down!” Jessie exclaimed.
I pulled out a chair for Jenn and once she was seated, sat down myself.
Suddenly, Mackie, Avie, and Jess came out with two trays with food, Mackie and Avie were carrying them, and another small tray with two glasses on it.
Avery put her tray in front of Jennifer and Mackie put his down in front of me. They glanced at each other and pulled the lids off in unison to reveal two plates of spaghetti.
Jenn and I looked at each other and smiled just as Jessica put down the two drinks.
“This was really sweet of you guys,” Jenn spoke.
“Yea, thanks,” I agreed.
Jess, Jay, Avie, and Mackie smiled. ”You’re welcome!” they chorused.
I saw Tay and Zac giving the thumbs up sign to the kids.
“Will that be all?” Jessica asked.
“Yes, thank you,” Jenn replied to her kid sister.
“Yes, thanks.”
“We’ll be going now,” Jay said.
“Alright,” I replied as they walked into the house.
“And finally, we’re alone,” Jenn said.
I laughed. “Finally.”
“It’s a good thing I wore white today. The chlorine would have killed my clothes.”
I smiled, taking a bite of the spaghetti. “I’m glad you wore white too.”
Jenn blushed. “You know, you look like an angel with your hair wet.”
I looked up and smiled wider. “You think?” I asked.
“Most definitely,” Jenn replied warmly. She slowly took a bite of the spaghetti as we began to talk into the darkness.
