Jenn smiled and nodded. “Of course. Why wouldn’t I?”
Zac looked at her, too happy to answer. He smiled brightly at he and she returned it.
There it was. The sunshine for her week. All she needed was the slightest smirk and it would brighten her day. She sighed contently and looked out to the lake next to the park. The sun was shining brightly in the sky and the lake was glistening a bright blue.
“Beautiful, isn’t it?” she asked softly, her eyes fixed on the body of water. Zac nodded. “Yea…it’s a lot like looking in your eyes.”
Jennifer blushed again. “You’re sweet.”
Zac smiled slightly. “I’m just stating the obvious.” He smiled at her, his cute grin much like that of a five-year-old.
Jenn smiled back, swinging slightly on the swing.
“Jennifer,” Zac began.
She shuddered unnoticeably. He sounded so much like…him. What was she thinking? Zac would never hurt her the way he had. She quickly shook the thought and looked over to Zachary. “Yea?” she asked quietly.
“This sounds really weird, but do you want to like, hang out and stuff…often? I mean, I’d ask you out, but that’s kind of pointless cause we’ve only known each other for two hours. It’s just I want to experience stuff with you and do stuff with you…I mean that in more ways than one, but I want to have your permission to go any further c—“
“Zac,” Jenn interrupted his rambling, smiling.
He nodded and swallowed. “Yea?”
“I know what you’re talking about. Thank you for respecting my feelings…and the answer’s yes,” she smiled.
Zac grinned even wider than before. “Really?”
Jenn nodded, still smiling. “Yea.”
Zac jumped up from his swing and gave Jennifer a tight hug. It was too early for kissing. Jenn hugged Zac back tightly. She stood up from her swing. “Do you wanna go back to the hall? To talk and stuff?”
Zac nodded. “Sure.”
Jenn smiled and left her right arm around his waist and he put his left on her shoulder. She looked up at him as they walked. “It won’t be hard loving you,” she spoke softly.
Zac smiled down at her. He wanted to kiss her so badly. Everytime he mustered up enough courage, he would get those butterflies in his stomach and he would back down. Not to mention he didn’t want to ruin her image of him.
The two reached the concert hall and they entered the backstage area to see it empty.
Zachary smiled; glad he could talk to Jennifer alone and in peace. “Make yourself comfy,” Zac smiled, letting go of her shoulder.
Jenn smiled slightly and looked at him. “Wherever you’re sitting I am. We aren’t half boyfriend and girlfriend for nothing,” she grinned innocently.
Zac’s smile widened, liking the idea. He plopped down on the couch and Jenn sat down next to him. He slowly and confidently slipped his arm around her shoulder and pulled her close to him.
Jenn smiled wistfully and rested her head on Zac’s shoulder. He stroked her hair gently, its soft touch making his lips yearn to come in contact with it.
“I like this whole relationship we have…” Jenn trailed and looked up at Zac.
Zachary looked back down at her. “Yea, me too…me too.”
Longingly, Jennifer stared at his lips. What would it be like to kiss him? Would she find out soon? Would he be good at it? Would she be good at it? She had so many questions about so many things; she didn’t know when to ask what.
Jennifer had to say or do something to get her attention off his lips. “What’re you like?” Jenn repeated the question he had asked her earlier. “I mean, seriously like.”
Zac thought for a moment. “I’m actually pretty shy and quiet. History and Lit are my favorite studies. Deep down, I’m really a romantic wanting someone to set me free. And I think that someone just might be you, Jenn.”
Jennifer blushed a deep crimson and looked to the floor.
Zachary looked down at her and lifted her chin slightly and met his eyes with hers. He was lost in the depths of her blue eyes almost immediately. She had the prettiest eyes he had ever seen. They were deeper and more translucent and hypnotizing than even Taylor’s. He swallowed hard as he realized exactly what was happening. He was falling for this girl. Falling and falling hard. Would a soft cloud that would take them both soaring catch him or would he fall on the excruciatingly painful cement? He gave a quiet sigh, hoping the first would be the way for him.
