~ My First Fan Fiction Story~ Like I Am
Standing
at the front windows Alice watched the rain falling down from the sky and listening to it hit the window panels of her apartment
building that she shared with her two best friends and her ex-boyfriend,Ashleigh, Heather and Owen. She figured that nothing
great would happen,condsidering she was late for work,for the second straight day in a row.But,she did know that a friend
of hers,Joedon,was going to be coming by for a short interview with the rest of the guys in his group.That's the only thing
she thought she could look forward to.They had grown close as friends since the first day Joedon had come in to do an interview,but
that was close to 3 years ago.Each day they talked on the phone or sent an e-mail to each other just to check up and make
sure everything was ok.Alice was happy with their friendship,but her friends kept saying that they think it should go on and
they should start dating.She wasn't sure what to think,she did love Joedon as a friend,she never thought she'd love Joedon
as more than that.They had kissed and touched,but nothing more than friendly way."Waiting for you boyfriend," Ashleigh laughed
as she walked past Alice."Yeah,Mr.Joedon Rooney lover;" Owen and Heather laughed right along with her."Funny guys,really funny"
Ashleigh,Don't you have someone to suck up to?" Alice asked as she turned toward her best friends. "Not
until Jay gets here,you know he likes it when I suck up to him." Ashleigh smiled widely. "Ashleigh,he's married,leave the
poor guy alone." The girls leaned against the wall watching Alice and she touched up her makeup . "It's well worth it,"And
you're what they call a groupie." Alice turned back,seeing the black van pull up into the parking lot.Her smiled widened because
she knew in just a couple minutes Joedon would be stepping out of the van and walking towards her. Chapter 2 As Joedon walked in along side Jay and Gary he broke into a huge grin and ran to Alice and picked her up and gave her a huge hug."Hey,Baby,How have you been?" Oh I've been pretty good keeping busy with my job and things." "I missed you so much." Joedon said suddenly. "You are just as I remember you three years ago this beautiful girl that I have been waiting to hold in my arms,but then Tiffany came into my life and we lost touch and I'm really sorry about that." "Oh,It's ok I'm happy for you Joedon I really am" She said ,trying to hold back her tears now knowing that she would never be able to have him cause he was engaged to be married in 3 months and he was happier than ever and there was no way she was going to break his happiness." Ashleigh,Heather,and Owen could tell that Alice was sad about Joedon's engagment so they took her aside as said "Girl, I promise everything is going to be ok,you will find that special someone someday too." Heather said. Alice says," I know guys but see I thought Joedon was the PERFECT one for me,but now look he just forgot all about me and is off prancing around his his fiance." "He was the one that I shared my first kiss with!" she said with tears pouring down her face. "Does that mean nothing to him at all!" Ashleigh held her,"Of course sweetie that means everything in the world to him,but he's gotta move on in his life too sweetie you know that!" "I know Ash I know, but I thought he said he was always going to love me and that he would never love another woman the same way as he loves me" Alice said " I won't" Joedon said peeking around the corner. Alice turned away in embarassment and Ashleigh,Heather,and Owen sneeked out the door to let them have their privacy. "What do you mean that you won't?" "If you won't then why are you engaged to Tiffany then?" Joedon all of a sudden got a sad face " I was only going with Tiffany,because I thought I had lost you when you started dating Owen !" He starts crying. Alice looks at him," Hey,look me and Owen broke up a month ago ,cause I realized that I could never love him the way I love you and there in noone in this world that could ever replace you,he is still living with me,but that's because we are still really good friends, but I'm not going to get in the way of your happiness with Tiffany,trust me I will find someone that will love and care for me,it just may be awhile." Joedon shook his head and wrapped his arms around Alice," Baby Girl,to be honest with you I'm not happy with Tiffany at all,she never wants to do anything with me and she never calls me and you always do and the truth is I want to be with you and I always have." " I love you Alice,Will you please be my girlfriend?"Alice just stared at Joedon for a second and wasn't sure if she should tell him or not,but then she just broke down into tears. Chapter 3 Joedon just stared at Alice in complete confusion. Alice just continued staring at the floor and thinking "I'm about to tell him a secert that NOT even my two best friends in the WHOLE world knew! She started haven't second thoughts about telling him,but she was pretty sure that she wanted to be his girlfriend cause then when the time was right or when It was too late to hide it anymore she would tell him when the time was right! Alice held Joedon's hands in her's and looked him in the eyes,"Look I will always love you and I have always loved you,ever since that first day that we back three ago." She kissed his cheeck and said "So,yes I will be your girlfriend,but I can't until Tiffany is no longer in your life and I definatly don't wanna rush this cause I know how much she loves you and I don't wanna push this realtionship." Joedon eyes just sparkled at the sound of her answer and Gary and Jay were standing in the doorway with tears running down their eyes at how happy they were for each other. "Come here boys!" Alice said and she moved over on the couch to make a place for the boys to sit. Gary and Jay walked over and sat down,Alice hugged both of them and said " I love you boys alot and I want what is the best for all of you guys!" Chapter 4 The boys walk in with Alice to have their interview with the radio station.After the interview is over the boys hug Ashleigh and Heather and shake Owen's hand (and kiss the girls cheecks).Then they walk up to Alice and they hug her and kiss her and say "You are like a little sister to me Allie,We love you!" " I love you guys too!" Alice said back.Then Joedon walks up to Alice to say his final goodbye before he leaves to go away on tour for 3 months.Right before Joedon walks out the door,Alice says "Joedon wait!"Joedon turns around and says "Yes,Is there something you need?" Alice says "Well, I kinda need it and have to tell you something that is about to change your life forever!" Alice takes a deep breath and says " Well,do you remember that one time 5 months ago ( a month before we both started dating other people) Joedon just stared at her with HUGE eyes and says " Yes,babe I do remember,cause that was the BEST night of my life." "Well,Joedon that BEST night of your life, is now about to change your life FOREVER!" "Joedon,in 3 months you are going to becoming Daddy Joedon!" Joedon's eyes just hit the floor as he was overcome with exictement and he said "That's great baby and kissed me and said " I'm going to get Tiffany's ring now I'll call you later!" "OK" I said and walked off crying. Chapter 5 Ashleigh looking out for Alice like always she hears the news and her jaw drops. What in the world Alice and Joedon a kid? As Joedon finally walks out, Ashleigh wonders why Alice gets all the luck. Ashleigh never really saw herself as pretty as her other best friend. She remembered the YOU ARE SPECIAL to God rule. The one u learn when u are very little. Joedon had called and invited the 4 of them to their concert that night,so we all and had a blast and as usual Alice and Ashleigh were acting like dorks screaming and yelling like normal. All of a sudden Alice sat down and started screaming in pain and the Heather and Owen had no clue what was going on,except for Ashleigh she knew exactaclly what was going on. Ashleigh gives Joedon the look that says'Cut,your girlfriend is going into labor'. Ashleigh says "Sorry you two have not a clue what's going on,so here I will tell you." Alice and Joedon are pregnant and I think Alice is going into labor,so you gotta help me get her to the hospital. Joedon whispers to Gary that they have to wrap up the show cause his girl is gonna have a baby and he has to be there for it,so they play their encore and then Joedon screams "I'M GONNA BE A DADDY all the way to the hospital. Joedon speeds all the way to the hospital and gets there just in time for the birth of his beautiful baby girl, Morgan Lynn Rooney. Alice looks at Joedon like 'Thank you for being here with me and thank you for the most wonderful baby in the world she is perfect'.Joedon whispers "I can finally say I Love You without Tiffany getting mad". Joedon stares at little Morgan,and says "Daddy love you very much and I love your mommy very much too. Chapter 6 Alice's friends stare at the new family in tears.Heather couldnt help but cry because of Joedon's happiness not only with the baby ,but with Alice as well. Owen was excited and congratulated the two on the new bundle of joy. Ashleigh felt proud of herself for being the only friend to know. That night Joedon laid on the hospital bed, holdin Morgan and playin with Alice's hair as she slept.Gary and Jay showed up later with their wives and Gary's girls. Owen who had slept on the pull out bed of a couch ,and Heather who had to share another couch with Ashleigh ,both smiled. Ashleigh however wasnt very happy. She wondered why couldn't someone come into her life. She still kinda cursed Alice for gettin Joedon first. Everyone was all smiles. Tell the phone rang, noone had any clue what was goin on. "We're sorry to inform you but Keith Urban died last night after complications when a semi collided with his motorcycle." Everyone was in shock. Gary and Jay looked at their wives and their crying eyes and held them close while Owen held Heather. Joe don held Alice close while lookin down at his cryin princess. Joe don kisses Alice while he remembers all the fun times they had. No one knew what to say. Tell Morgan cried and everyone went back to the reality but was still stunned by Keith's death. Chapter 7 Joedon started playing with something in his pocket.Alice looked at him and said "Sweetie,What are you doing with your pocket?"All of a sudden,Joedon pulls out this black box out of his pocket. Gary and Jay's eyes just drop to the ground and look at Joedon like "Are you sure you are ready for this?"Joedon looks at them like,"I have been ready for this since the day our eyes met." Alice just stares at Joedon,then Heather and Owen and then at Ashleigh and they all smile at her,cause they all know what is going on and she is the only that has no idea what is going on.Joedon takes Morgan from Alice's arm and hands her to Uncle Gary and takes Alice's hand and helps her off the bed and he slowly moves down on one knee and thats when Alice just lost it cause she knew she was about to make a lifelong commitment to him and that scared her like you wouldn't believe.Joedon finally got down on his knee,took Alice's left hand in his and look at her in the eyes and said,"Baby,I have loved you since the day of my first interview and I will continue to love you,until the day I can no longer breathe and they decide to take me out of this world." "Will you make me the happiest man on earth and marry me?" Alice just stares at him for a few minutes,not really knowing what to say to him,but then she got to thinking of 'their' daughter and that was when she said "Yes!"Tears rolled down everyones eyes in that room and Gary and Jay came up and gave Alice a HUGE hug and said we love you "WELCOME TO THE OFFICIAL RASCAL FLATTS FAMILY!" "I love you guys too and thank you for the warm welcome." She then ran over to her two best friends and hugged them tightly and said with tears,"Please don't forget about me after the wedding and promise me we will always be friends,not matter what happens to us after we are all married off with lives of our own."Ashleigh and Heather started crying at the moment too and they both said "Alice,we love you and not even the hottest man in the world (Joedon) could break our friendship,you are like a sister to us,we have conquer ALOT of things together and nothing in this world would be the same,if it weren't for you." Chapter 8 (I give credit to Teri for the second part of the story) Then all of a sudden,Alice got a really sad look on her face.Everyone just looked at her like whats going on? Ashleigh gets up and hugs Alice and says "What's wrong sweetie,you just got engaged to one of the hottest men in country music?" Alice says ," I know,but why would he want to marry me?" Ashleigh just looks at everyone in the room and says "excuse us for a minute." Ashleigh takes her out in the hallway and sits her down,"Now listen sweetie,Joedon would not have proposed to you if he didn't feel something 'special' between the two of you." " I know Ashleigh,I know but WHY DOES HE LOVE ME I'M NOONE SPECIAL OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT?"Ashleigh just looks at her with tears in her eyes and says "I'm going to go get Joedon for this one." Ashleigh goes back in and sends Joedon out in the hallways with Alice,when he comes out there,Alice just hangs her head in shame. What's wrong with my babygirl?" Joedon says. Alice just looks at him,"I don't understand why you want to marry me?" "Tiffany,is twice the person I will EVER be!" Joedon just looks at her,"You know the song 'Like I am'?" Alice shakes her head 'Yes' It's one of my favorites. "Why did u ask me that?" You know i love it" "Excatly. I love YOU for who YOU are." "Forget Tiffany or whatever her name was. " "I love YOU LIKE YOU ARE." "I wont let anything bad ever happen to you." "I love you." "I know you love me!" "Look at that doll in there." "Thank you so much for my little Morgan. "I want to have a lil family, with you. I love you. Marry me, please?" Joe Don says, with passonite tears in his eyes. Alice looks in his eyes and sees the love Joe Don truly has for her and reliazes not marrying him would be the biggest mistake of her life. He's so sweet and everything she has ever wanted in a man. The tears starts and she looks into those deep green eyes and sings, "When you say that I'm one of a kind, baby i dont see it, but you belive it..." They have to laugh, because of her crying, her singing was the not best, but sweet Joe Don says, "Hunny, that was great. i loved it. So is that-" "Yes, Joe Don, I will marry you. I would be dumb not to." They sit in the hallway singing "Like I Am," because they love each other like they are.Chapter 9 (I give credit to Teri for this chapter) They got home, to Alice's, and settled everyone in, meaning Joe Don and the baby. It took what seemed like forever. Everything was so hectic. And on top of it all, Morgan got diagosed with collic and never stopped crying. Joe Don wished that he could be home more, but him and they guys had to finish the new album. They had a tour starting soon, which Alice had no idea about yet. He was almost never home. When he was, it was to sleep or eat. Sometimes, shorter than that. He had interviews and planning to do, and so much more. While Alice was home planning the biggest event of a girls life; her wedding. She felt horrible doing everything by herself and Joe Don not being there to have a real say in it. She was constanly calling Heather or Ashleigh, but they had lives too. She didnt want to bug them about flowers and side dishes anymore. And when it came time to go dress shoping, no one was there to babysit or go with her, they all had plans. Her life, though happy and blessed, was falling apart and there was nothing she could do about it. She promised that after the wedding everything would go back to normal, and the girls promised to be there when she needed them. But God only knew what was about to happen. Chapter 10 (I give credit to Teri for this chapter too!) Joe Don stumbled in the house at midnight, tired and hungry. He tried to be quite, not to wake anyone. He made himself a ham and cheese sandwich and turned on the TV. It was on CMT, anouncing their big upcomeing headlineing tour. The sandwich dropped, His stomach turned, The tears started. Had Alice seen this already? She can't take that right now. He needed to be the one she found out about it from, not CMT. She walked into the bedroom to his his two angels sleeping peacefully. They looked like nothing bad could ever happen to them. Then Morgan began to stir in her crib and Joe Don hurried over to get her before she woke Alice. He took her out to the living room and feed her a bottle. She drifted off to sleep, while her daddy sang to her and told her that he would be gone for a few months, but he loved her and would miss her. "I'm sorry, baby. I know I should have told you and mommy 3 months ago when I found out" "Found out what, hunnie? When did u get home?" "Just a minute ago. I was watching you sleep, I thought I would get her and let you sleep." "You go on back to bed, I got her." "Found out what Joe Don?" "Alright,sweetie,I can't lie to you anymore. I'm so sorry." "Sorry for what?" "You haven't done anything." "Excaly, its what I havent done haven't told you when I should have." "Oh my God, you still love?" "NO!" "Shh, the baby." Joe don put Morgan back in her crib and then went back out to the living room. "The guys and me starting in 2 weeks are going on tour. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you sooner. I feel horrible." "2 weeks? And you're the headliner. Gosh Joe Don. What do you expect me to do now? What about the wedding? A honeymoon? What? I don't know what to do or say right now." "Please dont be mad. I found out 3 months ago. The same week I found out about the baby, I didnt' want to add stress to you and make you go in premature labor or anything. Please, I'm begging. I can work everything out. I promise. Everything will be ok. I have time off in September, we can do the wedding and honeymoon then.""And,what you don't think I'm stressed out now that my own finance has to tell our 3 day old daughter secerts that he can't tell me That's Pathetic Joedon!" "You expect me to work my butt of planning a wedding for next month and now you are moving it back 5 months?!" "You just expect everything to be perfect, don't you?" "You have lied to me for the past 4 months Joe Don Rooney! I" She started to cry. Should she be mad, sad, angry, ok with everything? She was so confused. "Please, what can I do? I love you!" "This is going to take time. I don't know. I'm just so confused. Maybe this time apart will do us both good." "No, I don't want time away from you or Morgan anymore. I love you both too much. Go with us. You always said you wanted to go to every U.S. state. Here's your chance,babe! For our honeymoon, we can go to Alaska and Hawaii. All 50 states, what do you say? Please?" Alice could see that passion in his eyes again and she just couldn't be mad any longer and she hated that cause she knew that she should still be soooo angry with him for lieing to her for 4 months. "Those eyes, they get me everytime." She agreed to the "plan" as they hugged, kissed, sang some of "Like I Am" and went to sleep. They had a big day of planning ahead of them in the morning.Chapter 11 (i give Teri credit for this chapter too Thanks girl you're awesome!) The next morning Alice woke up in Joe Don's arms. He was humming "Like I Am" in her ear. He knew that last night was their first fight, and it was going to be their last. He would make sure of that. She looked in those tired eyes of his and said, "I know you're tired, but if you want me to go with you we have to call Jay and Gary and get that bus baby-proof. We have to pack and everything. We have to call everyone and let them know. I'll call Ashleigh and ask her to just check the house and make sure it doesn't fall down or anything while we are gone." She says with a chuckle. "Ya know babe, I was thinking. Don't you think we should move? A bigger, nicer house, closer to Nashville? I think it would be easier on all of us. I hate having to get hotel rooms for a week at a time sometimes. I wanna come home and lay next to you every night." "Joe Don? You are serious? Move? In a time like this?" "Not right away, but...yes, I think it would be for the best." "But everyone I love lives here." "Alice...when's the last time any of them called you? Or any of you just hung out like you used too?" He said sympathetically. "We will have time to come down and visit, as much as you want to. I promise." She considered it and finally said, "If you think it's for the best, alright. I suppose we can do the paper work and stuff on the bus and over the phone." It was settled, they were moving, almost 3 hours away from the life Alice knew her whole life. She was excited and sad at the same time. She called Ashleigh,Heather and Owen,Teri, Sam, her sisters,Josh,Mr.Brandt Most were not home, so she had to leave a message. The one's home had to leave quick, so she hurriedly told them, they said they would miss them, she loved them,and told them to come visit. The ones that didn't answer, never really replied, their life was so busy. She knew they all loved her. She would make sure to call everyday until she got them. It took her until the day before they left for California, the first show, to tell everyone. They all said the same thing. But deep down she knew she knew they were doing the right thing. "Ready to go, hun?" asked Joe Don. Alice stood on the step, looking into the house she had known for along time. A stray tear fell down her cheek. She was going to miss this house, but happy about getting a new one, with water that didn't make noises when she took a shower. "Yea, is Morgan?" she said as she looked at her baby girl sleeping in her daddy's arm's. Joe Don saw the tear, wiped it away and showing those passionate eyes said, "Everything will be ok, I promise. I will not let anything bad happen to you. OK" "OK, lets hit the road, Jack!" "Jack? I'm Joe!" They laughed, hugged, and Joe Don kissed Alice's and Morgan's foreheads. They walked down the pavement and met Gary and Jay at the end of the drive with the bus.Chapter 12 As Alice walked up the stairs to the bus,reality finally hit her and she turned around and ran off the bus towards her friend Sam's house,she knew she had to give a proper goodbye and she hadn't so she wasn't leaving until she did.She ran all the way to Sam's house and finally reached the door and ran the doorbell and Sam came to the door in shorts and a t-shirt and his eyes just got huge when he saw who was at the door."Hey,girl I thought you were leaving with your finacee on tour?" "I am,but I'm not leaving without giving my friends a PROPER goodbye." "Well,I was actuall just leaving to go meet Mr.Brandt at the gym for our daily workout,so why don't you ride with and you can say goodbye to both of us at once?" She agrees and gets into Sam's car with him and they drive to the gym and they get there and walk inside and she then hugs both Sam and Mr.Brandt and tells them that they both mean alot to her and that she can't believe that she has to leave them like this but they just hug her back and say "Girl,that is your dream guy that you are engaged to,so you get back there to him we love you now get!"Before she leave she gives Mr.Brandt one last hug and says "Thank you soooooooooo much for believing in me and thank you so much for taking a chance on me thanks dude!" She finally leaves and walks over across the street to her old apartment.She runs in the apartment in tears and says "I'm really sorry that I have to leave you guys I really don't want to I love you guys too much to have to do this to you guys,"Heather,take care of Owen for me and never forget that I love you tons" She hugs Heather tight and moves onto Ashleigh and then the tears start knowing how much the two have been through,so they just hug and tell each other how much they love each other! She saves Owen for last and hugs him really tight and says " Thank you for believing in me and giving me a chance I love you Babe" I love you too!" Owen says He kisses her cheeck!"Thank you guys for everything that you have helped me through and thank you for finally helping me find the man of my dreams." "Your very welcome sweetie,Heather says, "but you gotta go me and Owen have a date tonight and I can't smear my makeup so please go sweetie" Alice hugs Heather and whispers,"I knew you guys liked each other!" " WAY TO GO GIRL LOVE YOU!"She gives Owen a thumbs up and hugs them all one last time and runs out the door. Chapter 13 She runs back to the bus and makes her way up the stairs and falls over on the couch next to Jay absolutley EXHAUSTED! Jay says after Alice falls on the couch,"A little tired? Alice just stares at him,"I am absolutley exhausted,Where's Joedon?" "In the back, on the phone." Alice gets up and slowly makes her way to the back of the bus to find none other than Joedon on the phone saying he loved someone and she really wasn't sure who it was,but she was not very happy with him at all and she knew it wasn't his family because they were out of town for the week and had no cell phones,so her knowing that she just sat there staring at him and he didn't notice her,so she walked out to Jay and hugged him and said "Joedon doesn't love me anymore cause he was someone on the phone that he loved them and he didn't even notice I was in there,I wanna go home!"She just stared at the ring on her finger,but that made her even more mad,so she took her ring off and threw it across the room and crawl into her bed and cried for hours. Finally,Joedon came out and lifted the curtain to Alice's bed and said, "Hey Gorgeous!" "Don't you hey gorgeous me!" she said in a very angry voice,"I saw you talking on the phone to someone and saying that you loved them and I know it wasn't your mom because she's called me the other day and said that they wouldn't be home all week and they would have no way of being contacted,so don't use that as an excuse mister!" He just hangs his head in shame because he knows he was caught red handed and before he had the time to apoligize,Alice was packing up hers and Morgan's things,grabbing Morgan, and heading out the bus and ran all the back to her apartment crying,Heather and Owen were getting ready to leave for their date and Ashleigh was in her room doing homework when they realized Alice in tears and they knew that something must have went wrong between her and Joedon. Chapter 14 Ashleigh is the first to walk out of her bedroom and notices Alice sitting on the couch crying and Morgan laying on the floor sleeping.She picks Morgan up off the floor and lays her on a chair and covers her up,and then walks over to Alice on the couch and puts her arms around her and says "What's wrong sweetie?" Alice just stares at Ashleigh with horribly red eyes from crying so much. "Joedon is in love with someone else cause he was telling her that on that on the phone and I really think it was Tiffany because he has been lieing to me for the past 4 months about EVERYTHING and I'm not going back with him,I'm canceling the wedding everything!" Ashleigh says "Now sweetie,Don't be so dramatic,maybe it was his mom on the phone." "No,Ash it wasn't his mom because she called me earlier in the week and said that they were going to be gone all week and that they would have no way for anyone to get ahold of them." "Sweetie,listen,I know Joedon would never do anything to hurt you because he honestly loves you more than anything in the world!" "It was probably just a friend thats all" Soon after,Alice's cell phone rings,she picks it up "Hello?" "Hey,Baby Doll I just wanted to call and tell you that I'm really sorry and I shouldn't have told Tiffany that I loved her,but it's just that I thought when you took off running,I thought that meant that you no longer wanted to be with me,and I was sooooo hurt by it and I know what I did was wrong,please forgive me." Joedon runs through the apartment doors,scaring the crap out of Ashleigh and sending her jumping half a mile. He looks at me with those deep green eyes again (you know the ones I can't resist).She just stares Ashleigh and she nod her head like "Forgive him!" So,she says "Yes,Joedon I will forgive you,but this is seriously your chance if you screw up again,don't come back,is that clear?" "Yes,baby that is clear",he says as he gets back down on one knee and Ashleigh,Heather,and even Owen break into tears."Alice,I promise I won't screw up again,please give me another chance and make me the happiest man on earth and marry me and go on tour with me?"Alice shakes her head 'Yes'. Joedon is extremely happy and he picks her up and kisses her and says "I love you Baby Gurl!" "I love you too Joedon!" Chapter 15 Heather and Owen FINALLY finish getting ready for their date together and head out the door.Alice says to Joedon "I really don't think me going on this tour with you is the best idea,I mean Ashleigh needs me and I can't be a good mom on the road,I don't wanna say this to disappoint you, but I just think this is for the best!" Joedon gets tears in his eyes,"I understand sweetie,but I'm going to miss you sooooooo much and, I promise when this tour is over we are going to have the best wedding ever and the most amazing honeymoon ever!" Joedon looks at Morgan and goes over and picks her up and says "Daddy loves you very very much,please take care of your mommy for me!" Morgan just stares at Joedon like "Yes, Daddy I will and giggles. Joedon laughs and then walks over to Alice and sits on the couch and pulls her down in his lap and says listen,"I promise I'm not going to screw up this time I am going to be the most amazing,loving husband ever any woman has ever wanted and you can count on that." Alice says "I know baby I know,but now go before you guys are late." Joedon lifts her up,kisses her,slaps her butt which makes me jump and says "I love you babydoll please never forget that!" "I won't sweetie,I love you too!" She kisses him back and slaps his butt then says "Now please go sweetie!" Joedon watches Alice as he walks out the door and the tears just start rolling,he climbs on the bus and they take off. Chapter 16 *!*2 Weeks Later*!* Joe Don has been on tour for the past 2 weeks and Alice misses him to death! They talk every night on the phone, but it so wasn't the same, even though she loved hearing his soft, gentle voice. Alice had been keeping very busy with lil Morgan and were getting along great.As far as Alice's best friends; Heather and Ashleigh were concerned with their love life...it was going GREAT for both of them. Heather and Owen had been hittin it off great the past few weeks. Those 2 have been dating OFFICIALLY for awhile now and seem to be the happiest together. Heather and Owen were the CUTEST couple anyone had ever laid eyes on! They seemed perfect!Ashleigh had went out and found herself a guy too (WAY TO GO GIRL!) He was a drummer and had brown hairs and green eyes and his name was Jeremy and she loved him very much and they had been dating OFFICALLY now for about 2 weeks. After their first date they were never really seen apart from each other which was really amazing. Ashleigh and Jermey had known each other for quite awhile but just started dating it was soo cute! But Jermey had something up his sleeve he wouldn't tell and to just wait and find out! (not even ashleigh, he said it was a surprise) So he had everyone wondering, what was going on?! As Alice thought nothing in her life could be more perfect than it always was and she didn't think anything in her life could have been ruined.The phone rings,she walks over to it,and picks it up,"Hello?" The voice on the other side sounds like it had been crying and sounded alot like Joedon's mom."Jo?" Alice said."Yes,Alice it's me Jo (Joedon's mom) and I hate to be the barrier of bad news but it seems that Joedon and the rest of the boys have been in a horrible accident when a semi crashed through their bus." Alice just goes speechless for a few minutes and then the tears start running down her cheeck.She has the chance to get out,"How is my baby boy doing?" "Well,sweetie he is in critical condition at the Oklahoma hospital and if you want I can come pick you up and we can go there." "Yes,please do that I will get Morgan up and dressed and then we will go" "OK,sweetie love you and im sorry" "I love you too and its ok I just want him to be ok."They hang up Chapter 17 (i give teri credit for this chapter) As Alice is packing, all she can think is, "Why God?! Why Joe Don?! Why Rascal Flatts?! Why!?" She can't control her tears, they just keep coming. She tries not to wake Morgan, but she does and even though shes still a baby, she can tell something is wrong and her tears start too. Jo comes and Morgan falls asleep in the car. All Alice can do is cry. Jo does the same. All 3 Rascals grew to be like her sons. This is hard on everyone. What will happen? How will they ever over come this? Then Alice remembers a couple months ago, they were bickering and when things calmed down, Joe Don took her in his arms and said, "Not matter what God throws our way, if we stick together, we can make it through better than ever. I promise. And to help us, we will listen to our song and eveything will seem ok for at least 3 minutes. OK? I love you babe." Her tears calmed. She looked at the clock; 3:30. She got out her Melt CD, skipped to number 7 and sang "Like I Am" all the way to the hospital for Joe Don. Jo never asked why, Joe Don tells her everything, she already knew. Alice only hoped that the doctors will have good news, and that Joe Don didn't die that night. Chapter 18 (i give teri credit for this chapter) They got there and Morgan woke up, but was still tired. They dropped her off in a nursery and let her play while they went up to the Rascals rooms. They waited in the waiting room for the docter. When he finally came, he said, Mrs. Rooney?" Jo looked up and said, "Yes, how are my boys?" "Well, Gary is getting better,Jay is hanging in there.They are going to be here a while. The semi was closest to them, but thank God they weren't killed. They got cuts and bruises. Gary needs surgury to get a big chunck of glass out of his arm, if it was only a fourth of a centimeter to the left, he wouldn't have a right arm. Other than that, and shock, he will be able to leave in about two weeks. Jay is lucky he's not losing a leg. He has glass all over in his leg. But none is in great risk of amputation. They are very lucky. We well have to keep him for about 2 weeks as well. We have to keep them all too make sure they have no internal bleeding. As of now, none of them do, it's amazing. God was definatly present in this accident. Now Joe Don...well..." Alice loses it. She very happy Gary and Jay are going to be alright, they are like her brothers, but what about Joe Don!? "What about my fiance, Doctor! What about Joe Don!?" Chapter 19 (i give teri credit for this chapter) The doctor looks at her and starts to smile. "Hun, to be honest, he had no hope for him. When the semi hit them, he was walking to the sink, and got kicked out of the window. He was laying on the road, unconciuos, and barly breathing. WE got him just in time to get his breathing and heartbeat under control. He was in a coma, that we didn't know he was ever going to get out of. But all of a sudden, about 3:30 he opened his eyes and asked what happened. He doesn't remember anything. Hopefully, if is just temporary. If not, there are things we can do to get him back. But i'm sure it's just for a little while, he's just in shock. Joe Don is a trooper. He has no internal bleeding, and will need surgry to get glass out like the other two. He might have to say in a little longer, but he will make it. I promise you that." 3:30. "Like I Am." Joe Don was right. All Alice could do was cry, because her boy would be ok, and she knew he was right, and she loved him deeply, she knew he loved her more than anything in the world. Jo hugged her soon-to-be-daughter-in-law and they both prayed and thanked God for watching over thier Rascals. Chapter 20 The doctor leads Alice into Joedon while Jo goes in to visit Gary and Jay. Alice walks in and she knows that Joedon doesn't know who she is or what is going on,so she just starts talking and he can listen."Joedon,I know right now you don't know who I am,but I am Alice your fiance and you were in a accident when a semi hit your guys tour bus and you flew out the window and were knock out unconious and barely breathing and they took you here and are going to help you get better." "I love you baby and at 3:30,I sang 'Like I am' for you." She starts singing 'Like I am' again and all of a sudden Joedon wakes up and remembers everything that went on but doesn't know how he got to the hospital. "Joedon,the doctors brought you here and you have to have surgey to get the glass out of your leg,but otherwise you are fine." Joedon just stares at Alice with tears in his eyes,and says "I'm sorry baby girl,I'm really sorry I should have never agreed to do this and then I wouldn't be here in the hospital,I could be holding you in my arms." "Joedon stop,it's ok I love you and Morgan loves you and we are going to be here for you just please rest so you are better for our wedding in September." The doctor comes in and says "Gary and Jay are back from surgey and are doing wonderful." "That's great to hear,but now you need to get Joedon feeling that way." "Ma'am he already should be feeling that way,cause we already gave him the surgey,he was the first one to be operated on being he was the worst of the three." Joedon says "Your right doctor I do feel better." "See Ma'am I told you,but I still suggest that you keep him home for 2 weeks so his leg can fully heal."Oh,don't worry Doctor,he won't be going anywhere till that leg of his is in full shape again." Joedon just gives her the puppy-dog eyes like "Please,you can't keep me locked up forever" "No,Joedon you have to stay home and rest."The doctor says "Well,I will get the paperwork and you can sign it and we can let you go in a week alright?" "Alright Thank you Doctor." As soon as the doctor leaves the room,Joedon picks up Alice and Morgan and says "Daddy's gonna be home for 2 weeks isn't that great?" "Yes,Joedon it's great but these 2 weeks aren't just lounge around time for you,you have to help me figure things out for the wedding,you can lay on the couch,but you will help me cause this isn't just MY wedding it's OUR wedding!" "Yes,baby-girl I know." Chapter 21 As soon as Joedon and Alice get home a week later they start planning the wedding and the honeymoon and get the invitations written on.Finally,after all the planning is done,Alice calls Ashleigh up on the phone and says "Hey Girl,Can you come and help me pick up my wedding dress and the bridesmaids dresses?" "Sure,"Ashleigh says "Then I can tell you the GREAT news that happened to me yesterday afternoon." "Alright,I'm exicted I'll be right there" "Alright,Hun see you soon!" Alice hangs up and kisses Joedon and Morgan goodbye and goes and picks Ashleigh up in her brand new Chevy pickup truck. Ashleigh walks out,gives Alice a hug and shuts the door and says "Nice truck girl." "Thanks Joedon got it for me!" Alice looks at Ashleigh's left hand "Nice Rock Girl!" Thanks Jermey asked me to marry him last night and I just had to say 'Yes'."Well,I'm glad you did cause Jermey's a great guy and you two are a match made in heaven!" Now if Owen would hurry up and ask Heather it would be perfect! They arrive at the bridal shop and they walk in and Alice walks Ashleigh over to her dress and says "What do you think?" Ashleigh says "WOW! Girl Joedon is going to die when he sees you in that dress it's gorgeous and you are going to be gorgeous in it." "Thanks Hun!" Alice then shows Asheligh the bridemaid's dress which is what she will be wearing and Ashleigh says"Wow! Gorgeous I knew I was working out for something!" "You look great Ashleigh and I couldn't ask for better friends then You,Heather and Owen." "You guys have been there for me for everything and it means alot." The girls pick up the dresses,take them to the counter,and pay for them and head on home. Chapter 22 Not even 5 minutes after Alice had walked in the door from dress shopping,her cell phone started ringing.She picked it up "Hello?" "HELLO" said a VERY exicted voice which sounded like Heather. "Hey Girl! How have you been?" "I'm great now that Owen just popped the question and I told him 'Yes'" "CONGRATS HUN!" "Thanks Love You Lots Bye!" Alice shuts her phone and sets it on the table and walks into the living feeling happy for Heather and thinking of just 'one' more thing that would make her extremely happy.Joedon walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her."Hey Baby!" she said before her cell phone started ringing again and Joedon became sad. She ran to the kitchen and picked it up and the voice on the other end sounded really scared and it sounded like Heather AGAIN she screamed "ALICE HELP ME I CAN'T BE A MOM I'M TOO YOUNG I CAN'T DO THIS!!!!" "Heather,first off sweetie settle down I promise you can do this I'm here for you and I know you can do this just have FAITH and God will help you through this and he wouldn't have gaven you this child if he didn't think you do it sweetie,he LOVES you and there is NO love more powerful than the LOVE OF GOD!"I know,Alice I know and I am going to try and be the best mother this kid could EVER ask for." "thats the Heather I know,now you go be with your fiance and be a HAPPY family I love you girl and Congrats!" "I LOVE YOU ALICE AND THANK YOU" Heather hangs up and Alice does too and then she walks into the living room and pulls Joedon down on the couch,looks him in the eyes and says "I LOVE YOU FOR YOU AND NOONE ELSE!" "Thank you Baby I love you too!" He says.They get interrupted by Morgan's crying and Alice walks in there and Morgan just stares at her and keeps crying ,so finally Alice picks her up and she continues crying,so she feeds her,changes her diaper,rocks her, DOES EVERYTHING POSSIBLE,and she just wouldn't stop crying.Alice didn't know why she wouldn't stop crying,so she set Morgan on the floor and she sat on the couch and just cried and said to herself, kinda under her breath, "YOU'RE A HORRIBLE MOTHER YOU DON'T DESERVE TO BE HERE, MORGAN NEEDS A BETTER MOTHER!" She just continued saying that until Joedon picked Morgan up and started kissing her and carried her back her bedroom. Chapter 23 (i give teri credit for this chapter) He was trying anything he knew possible to calm down Morgan: gave her her favorite stuffed bear, her blankie, her plug, sang her her favorite song, everything he could think of and the crying got louder and stonger. Something was not right. Morgan has never cried like this before. He called, "Alice! Something's wrong!! Help me, what should we do?!" She cried back, "I'm what's wrong!" He walked out to the living room carrying Morgan and said, "You don't talk like that! There is nothing wrong with you, you're perfect in my eyes, and in Morgans. I think she's sick, and its not collic, its something else, her first fever i think." She walked over and felt her forehead. Alice's face went white. Thats no little fever. Something was wrong, and maybe VERY wrong. "HURRY! Get in the car! We have to go to the ER right NOW!" Joe Don got Morgan all bundled up and they went to the hospital, not knowing what was wrong with their little girl. Chapter 24 ( I give credit to teri for this chapter also!) While waiting to find out what was wrong, Joe Don said, "Whats all this talk about you being whats wrong?" "I dont know, Joe. I just panicked. She's never been like that before. I didnt know what to do. To sit her on the floor and just listen to her cry, 'Mom, do something!' It was so hard! But i didn't know what to do." "Hun, you did all you could. I think you did the right thing. You did nothing wrong. And when this little angel grwos up to be a lil Teenage angel-devil, you wont be able to help her over every little bump that comes along. I know that, you know that, and Morgan knows that. And we love you all the same no matter what." This made her feel a lot better, but she still didnt know what was wrong with her baby. He pulled her close and waiting on the doctor they hummed "Like I am" for their daughter.Chapter 25 (i give credit to teri for this chapter too!) The doctor came out to the waiting room about 30 minutes later. Mr.Rooney and Ms.Pantzer ?" Joe Don and Alice stood up. "Good thing you brought her in when you did, that fever was mighty high. Any later and we could have had some troubles. She has the early signs of, belive it or not, chicken pox. Guess she wants to get them out of the way. Only thing is, since she is only one year, these are more dangerous, but, you two look like responsible parents considering how well you brought her here tonite. So, all you have to do is rub this cream on and mix this medicine in with her bottle, and keep an extra eye on her. No itching." He smiles, which calms every ones nerves. They sign her out and drop by Walgreens to get the medications and head on home to get some peacful sleep.Chapter 26 ~*~*the wedding day*~*~ As Alice was in the back with her two best friends and her mom getting ready for her big day,there was a knock on the door. Ashleigh walked over to open it and there stood Owen with a present from Joedon to Alice so she took it from his hands,thanked him and shut the door behind him. She walked over to her best friend,who was at that time getting her hair done and said "Hun,Guess who just sent you a present?" She grabbed the package from Ashleigh and ripped it open and inside it was the most beautiful diamond necklace EVER with a little note attached. The note read: Hey Baby! I can't believe that we are finally getting married,just know that I am the HAPPIEST man on the planet right now! I love you baby and I cannot wait for you to be Mrs.Joe Don Rooney! Love always, Joe Don It's a good thing she hadn't applied any makeup yet cause she was bawling and while crying Ashleigh and Heather came and took her in their arms and said "It's ok SweetieAlice looked at the girls and says "I know girls,but I just love him sooo much,but yet I am sooo scared at the same time this is a HUGE day for me and I can't mess this up."Ashleigh goes,"Sweetie,nothing you could would mess this up he loves you so much and he wouldn't care if you fell flat on your face he would still love you just as much as he does now,there is nothing that could change that sweetie.Now please,Your dad's waiting Let's Go Get Married!" Alice goes to find her Dad and hooks her arm into his. Ashleigh is her maid of honor and Jay is the best man so they walk down first and then Heather and Owen and then Gary and her older sister. Then her younger sister walks down by herself as the junior bridesmaids. Gary's youngest daughter Brooklyn is their flowergirl and she walks down with Alice's cousin Taylor, as the ring bearer. The wedding bells start to chime and that mean it's Alice's turn to walk down the aisle and she has butterflies in her stomach like you couldn't believe,but there was no turning back cause Joe Don was standing at the front of the altar with the pastor smiling at her,she smiled back at him and started down the aisle with her dad. When she got to the front of the altar she handed her bouquet of flowers to Ashleigh and turned to face her man.They went through the wedding prayers and all that stuff and then it came time for the vows,they had decided that they were going to write their own vows cause they mean more than.Joe Don went first and this is what his vows said: Alice,Baby from the first time I laid my eyes on you 5 years ago I knew you were the one for me cause I always felt like such a different person when I was with you,I was never afraid to be myself and you never judge me by the little things that I did wrong you always loved me just 'Like I Am' and I have NEVER felt that with anyone before. I am going to be so proud to share my last name with and even more prouder to call you my wife. You are the most beautiful,most amazing woman I have ever laid my eyes on and I am sooo lucky to have you in my life! You are the most amazing mother ever,Morgan is going to be one well-raised kid and have a lot of love. I love you Baby! "That was so beautiful baby, I loved it!" 'Here's Mine!" Joe Don, Sweetie I can't believe that we have finally made it to our wedding day, ever since I saw you on tv in the 'These Days' video I always told my mom that you were someday going to be my husband,but I never thought that that dream was going to finally one day come true,but let me tell you that I am soooo glad that it did cause I couldn't imagine a better man to share my life with!" You are the greatest father in the world and although you may not be home a lot at times baby,Morgan loves you so much so always has to take one of your pictures to bed so she can have Daddy at her side when she sleeps. I couldn't be more proud to share the same last name as you! It's amazing how no matter how bad I screw up or how many mistakes I seem to make you never seem to love me any less and you never hold it aganist me. I have never met a guy as amazing as you! I love you sooooo much Baby! Alice looked back at her best friends really quickly before saying 'I Do' and they were crying from her beautiful vow. She smiled at them and then turned back to Joe Don and the pastor while the pastor recited the words and the recited them back to each other They said 'I Do' and the pastor says 'I am proud to announced you husband and wife,you may now kiss your bride" Joe Don says " Man,Do you know how long I have waited for you to say that!" Everyone starts laughing! Joe Don kisses his beautiful bride and they walk down the aisle as husband and wife.
