Rhododendron viscosum, the swamp azalea, is native to New England, in fact, a large native stand is located in the swampy areas surrounding the Digital plant in Andover, Massachusetts. The strong pleasant fragrance forces one to notice the tubular white flowers appearing in late June or early July. The green deciduous leaves turn yellow or orange in the fall.
