Rhododendron periclymenoides, the Pinxterbloom azalea , is native to New England although it is more commonly found in southeastern U.S. There it is also called the honeysuckle azalea for its fragrance. This azalea was formerly classified as Rhododendron nudiflorum.

The Andover Bird Sanctuary contains a few plants of the Pinxterbloom azalea in a naturalized setting but it there is very little reason to assume that these plants are endemic. However, this azalea is reported to be endemic to portions of southeastern Massachusetts.
