The main objectives of the Diocesan Music Committee are:

  1. To have well established and skilled choirs in our Parishes and schools

  2. To improve the quality and standard of singing in our Liturgy.

  3. To enrich our Liturgy with new hymns focused on spreading the Good News by encouraging our local musicians and local instrumentation.

  4. To propagate the annual theme of the Diocese by calling for compositions on the themes and ensuring that these songs are sung in Liturgical services.

  5. To know one another and learn from each other in order to foster the Ministry of praising the Lord in Song

  6. To acquire skills of reading and performing in music.

Strategies to enable us to achieve our objectives:

  1. Scrutinising and screening all music composed for Liturgical worship and maintaining a database of this music and composers in the Diocese.

  2. Liaise with other Diocesan Music Committees to ensure that Liturgical music originating from their Dioceses has their approval.

  3. Publishing a hymnal to be used in our Liturgical services.

  4. Developing the skills of our musicians and choirs in performance of their various functions through running music schools, workshops and seminars.

  5. Ensuring and maintaining a high standard of singing in our Liturgical celebrations by our choirs through annual non-competitive but adjudicated festivals at all levels of our Church structure.

  6. Holding regular meetings at all levels in order to plan and share experience amongst or membership.
