EVAC-U8®
THE EMERGENCY ESCAPE SMOKE-HOOD

"Your survival in a fire could depend on this Smoke Hood"

Three out of four fatalities are caused by smoke inhalation. The EVAC-U8® Emergency Escape Smoke-hood provides a safe supply of filtered air for upto twenty minutes -- the time which can be spent finding your way to safety.

Studies show that the most important thing you can do to survive a fire is to maintain a source of breathable air. In just a few seconds, you can easily put on this EVAC-U8® Emergency Escape Smoke-hood and breathe filtered air for upto twenty minutes.

Simply twist the lid off the canister, put the hood on and breathe through the mouthpiece. Built into the canister is a multi-stage, air purifying, chemical catalytic filter that removes carbon-monoxide and other deadly gases present in fires. Manufactured to ISO9002 standards of quality, EVAC-U8®'s transluscent Kapton hood resists 800 degrees Fahrenheit temperatures, protecting eyes, head and neck from transient flame, with excellent visibility and hearing. Slightly larger than a beverage can, the canister features a powerful luminescent bottom to make it easy to find in the dark or unfamiliar places, and helps others find you. A derivative of EVAC-U8 has been developed for firefighters' use, the EVAC-PRO fits SURVIVAIR, MSA, SCOTT masks and can be used to assist the firefighter should they run out of air.

Currently in use by departments of the Canadian and American Federal Governments and hotels worldwide, EVAC-U8® is the most affordable smoke-hood on the market today that incorporates the complex technology of carbon monoxide protection. An essential emergency equipment for travel and ideal for additional peace-of-mind at home or the office. We provide a Five year warranty and each unit comes equipped with its own wall mount; belt pouches are also available.

The Time magazine (Canadian Edition, March 31, 1997 pgs 34 -44) provides an interview with former Inspector General of the U.S Department of Transportation, Mary Schiavo. She discusses the safety standards of Airlines and the fact that they only adhere to the minimum safety requirements. The American edition featured it on its cover "Flying Blind" (Time, March 31, 1997). Ms. Schiavo recommends that air travellers always have a smoke hood with them in case they have to escape a smoke filled cabin.
