The Luke/Vader Writers Rating System and Guidelines

The following criteria must be met in order for a piece of fan fiction to be archived on the Luke/Vader Writers website.

bulletFan fiction must be primarily concerned with the father/son relation between Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader.
bulletAuthor must be a member of the Luke/Vader Writers.
bulletFan fiction submitted must include a summary, genre (i.e. "ESB AU"), and rating (see our rating system below).
bullet"MA" rated stories are accepted, however, since" MA" and "R" and not always interchangeable (i.e. Many "R" rated fics may be considered "MA+18" according to our rating system) "MA" rated fics will need to be closely evaluated by our staff before being accepted.  When submitting MA rated stories, please provide why the story is rated as it is. i.e. "MA for violence and strong language."

If you wish to be archived on the Luke/Vader Writer's website, please send a request to our moderators.  The story or stories you wish to be archived will be evaluated and it will be decided whether they meet the L/V submission criteria.  You will also be asked to assist in creating a personalized author page (such as those on the Fan Fiction page).

WHAT DO THESE RATINGS MEAN?

The film rating system often applied to fan fiction is problematic in that it applies a movie rating system to a literature genre; in attempt to clarify what is and is not acceptable on this list, a system unique to this list has been created.

G : (General)  Content appropriate for any age level.

T : (Teen) Themes are mild, but may allude to action violence such as a firearms fight, or a space battle. There is no mention of drug use. Content is not extreme or graphic in any way. There is no profanity.

T+13 : (May not be appropriate for children under 13) Involved and perhaps violent action sequences and violent acts may be described, however not gratuitously (in unnecessary detail). Extreme situations such as murder, torture and other acts of violence might be alluded to or described, but again, not gratuitously. Rape, if alluded to, must be extremely vague and in no way described. Drug use may be alluded to, but not glorified. Moderate uses of profanity* (Please avoid extremely offensive profanity, if you have a question concerning what is considered "extremely offensive", please contact the moderators).

MA : (Mature audiences) Extreme acts, such as rape, torture, and murder may be implied or moderately described. Sexual scenes (consensual) may be moderately described. Action sequences and violence may be described explicitly. Drug use may be described, however not glorified. Frequent uses of profanity* may occur (Please avoid extremely offensive profanity, if you have a question concerning what is considered “extremely offensive, please contact the moderators).

MA+18 : (Audiences 18 and above only) Explicit descriptions of sex and violence. Rape, drug use, murder, torture and other extreme acts may be described in detail. Offensive and frequent profanity may occur. Content is often offensive and gratuitous. Fan fiction of this rating is not archived on this website.

*A NOTE ON PROFANITY : Profanity is often used to “spice up” the dialogue of a text, however, if overused or used inappropriately, it can also distract from the story. Consider whether your character would use the word you wish to use, then consider if you can use a Star War idiom to replace it; often times, the SW universe word will integrate into your text more fluently. Consider replacing offensive language with some of the following words and phrases: bantha fodder, emperor’s bones, emperor’s black bones, emperor’s black heart, kerth, kriff, poodoo, shavit, sith, sithspawn, sithspit, and stang.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding these rating guidelines and rules, please contact our moderators.
