My consulting practice has several major focal points.  I enjoy the challenges of helping you and your colleagues find creative, positive solutions to persistent problems, and helping you nurture a high-performance culture of continuous growth.  Below, find ways I have supported problem-solving, vision-based planning and professional development in other schools and districts.

New-Teacher Hiring & Support   I can help you fine-tune hiring strategies to prevent later problems, and discern the developmental needs of new hires to offer preventive support or coaching.  I can design training to meet specific needs, or provide my own curriculum for such critical areas as classroom management.

Vision-Based Planning   Vision is a clear view of your mission and goals, often co-crafted by many people, regularly re-built, and typical of high performers.  It provides a rudder for planning and decision-making.  Absence of vision or lack of clarity complicates decisions and prompts crisis management.  I coach individuals and faculties to create or clarify vision, and to realize the creative, proactive solutions that emerge from this process.

Teacher Supervision & Development   Faculty supervision is a complex and critical part of an administrator's job.  While new teachers need special help, veteran faculty and administrators often have little collegial support and may carry a costly burden of emotional isolation and frustration. The expensive results are burnout, high turnover, impaired teacher-student, teacher-parent, or school-community relationships. I help create supervision structures that prevent these problems and encourage professional development.  I can . . .

- engage individuals (or a faculty) to identify, articulate or clarify

personal or school vision

- articulate persistent challenges and re-frame them for quick resolution

- design group process to meet specific staff development needs

- identify out-of-the-box resources (such as reorganization of

job responsibilities) to achieve goals without spending money

- find job-embedded, low-cost or no-cost ways to support and

motivate continuous professional development

- improve collegiality, communication and cross-learning among employees, or build bridges between veteran faculty

and probationary teachers

- help evaluate hiring and orientation processes to avoid

problems and identify the critical developmental needs of new hires

- design school-based programs for parent support, and train faculty

to make parent calls and other interactions more productive

and less confrontational

- develop training for teachers or administrators to support

dealing with very challenging parents

- develop training curriculum to meet a specific faculty need,

or awareness activities to introduce a new idea

- evaluate the strengths, concerns and developmental needs of new or veteran  faculty and coach these teachers to develop

individual professional development plans

- deliver complete training in classroom management

for new or veteran teachers

- help you use faculty meetings more productively and

embed professional development

- model group process and cooperative learning strategies

- reduce employee isolation and increase trust

- revitalize hope, and the belief that individuals make a significant

difference in your school
