This site is intended to be a living tribute of our ancestors and other kin. Many have gone before us; some we knew and deeply treasured, others long in our past we never met but heard their testimonials at the knees of our parents and grandparents. The goal is to keep in our hearts those we were close to and bring to life (in our hearts) appreciation for those we only wish we could have known.

Ann Talitha (Lee) McGuire
[my great-great-great-grandmother]

Ann was one of 17 children of Elizabeth (Lee) & Richard Lee of Madison County, Kentucky. Ann & Thomas "Ned" were married in Madison County in 1807. About 1812 they moved to Bedford County, Tennessee. In 1854 they traveled to Texas with their daughter, Lucinda George & her family and their son, Neal & his family. Their daughter, Nancy Jane & her husband, Robert M. McFarland also came to Texas, but if they had a family, it is not known as no records have been found.
Other children of Ann & Thomas were: Mary Ann "Polly", Elizabeth, Temperance, Sarah Elizabeth "Sallie", Catherine F. and Susannah "Susan" McGuire.
Epitaph: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."

Thomas M. "Ned" McGuire
[my great-great-great-grandfather]

Thomas was the son of Wiliam & Mary Ann (Shirley) McGuire. Mary Ann & Wiliam were captured, unarmed, in their field in Virginia, during the American Revolution and held prisioners in Quebec, Canada where Thomas was born. They were released in the dead of winter. As they made their way home, they took shelter in an old cemetery among the headstones. That night their two year old son, Michael froze to death. Thomas was spared due to his mother wrapping him in her coat.
William recieved land grants in Lincoln County,Kentucky. Thomas also acquired land in the same county.
Epitaph: "Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God."

The parents and siblings of Ann Talitha (Lee) & Thomas M. McGuire

Ann (Lee) McGuire's parents were Elizabeth (Lee) & Richard Henry Lee. They were 1st cousins. Their children were: Dorothy "Dolly", Gresham, William, Sarah "Sally", Elizabeth "Betsy", Ann Talitha (my line), David, Noah Green, Thomas H., Richard W., Mary Ann "Polly", Delila "Dilly", Nancy Ruth, James, Margaret "Peggy", Irvine and Lucinda Lee.
Richard & Elizabeth were from Virginia and the older children were probably born there, possibly even Ann. The other children were born in Madison County, Kentucky.
William & Mary Ann (Shirley) were the parents of Thomas McGuire. William was a lieutenant in the Continental Army during the Relovution and Mary molded bullets to support the war effort. William was 26 and Mary was 19 when they were captured, unarmed, on their farm, with their two year old son, Benjamin Michael "Bennie". They were taken to Quebec, Canada and held prisoners. Thomas (my great-great-great-grandfather) was born there. It was bitterly cold when they were released. There was no transportation, so they began their long walk home. They bedded down in an old Canidian cemetery with only a thin blanket for protection. That night Bennie died and the heartbroken parents buried him in the same cemetery.
After the war, William was given land grants in Lincoln Co., Ky. Thomas owned land in the same county before marrying Ann Lee.
Children of William & Mary Ann were: Benjamin Michael "Bennie", Thomas M. "Ned" (my line), Sallie, Polly, Katherine, William Jr., Cornelius, Dr. John and Elizabeth "Bettie" McGuire.
Along with Thomas & Ann, William & Mary Ann moved to Bedford Co., Tn. about 1813. William died in 1834 and Mary Ann died in 1845 in Shelbyville, Bedford Co., Tn. and are buried in Old Horse Mountain Cemetery about three miles from Wartrace, Bedford Co., Tn.
