Welcome to the Mists, my friends. May you find a home here to last forever more. This is a world parallel to Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, a portal world, if you will. In this realm, the world has changed drastically. The BreakingThe world, torn asunder by male channelers gone mad due to the backlash by the Dark One, is a different place. Contrary to what happened in other worlds outside the mists, these poor souls were honored for their braveryand some say stupidity. Although many still hold grudges against the male channelers, they are no longer feared, and many of the Talents lost in other worlds remain, such as Crafting. When the Ajahs were formed, the Red Ajah devoted itself to finding male channelers and helping them through the madness as best they could. Although research by the Brown Ajah proved that the Taint could be staved off, it still affects men the same waythat is to say, madness. The Taint affects every man differently. The World The world has changed from what other Portal worlds may be. Lands exist that, in other worlds, have long been decimated. Malkier, renowned for its fighters and protecting the edge of the known world from Shadowspawn, did not fail. The armies of Mantharen arrived in time to save that fated land, although the great country paid the price. Mantharen the city remains, but Mantharen the country does not. Mantharen the city-state, like Mayene, controls only that which is within sight of its walls. The Band of the Red Hand, based in Mantharen, is a band of mercenaries, devoted to stopping the Shadowspawn and keeping the peace. The White Tower and More The White Tower of Wyrd stands proud over Tar Valon, its shadow covering the thousands of people that walk its streets. Novices in white and Accepted with their rainbow hems roam its halls, each hoping to one day become Aes Sedaipeacemakers, fighters, and servants of all. The white marble glitters in the afternoon sun. Standing next to the White Tower is its twin, the Black Tower. Although the Black Tower of Will looks nothing like the White Tower, its jagged shadow falls over the city. It almost looks as if one of the madmen that roam the halls of this great black spire built it. This shadowy monster looms over the city of Tar Valon like a great onyx beast, ready to devour any that might enter. Between the two great Twin Towers of Tar Valon stands the highest tower of them all. The Grey Tower of Way is the tower that unites both Towers under a common roof. The heart of the Grey Tower is the Hall of Hart, where both Amyrlin and M'hael conduct business that affects the Towers. Underneath which is the Lunch Hall, where Gaidin, Asha'man, and Aes Sedai in training eat. Under them all, in the basement, is the Grand Library that contains all recorded knowledge by the Aes Sedai...among other artifacts of power. Enter, Mortal! Behold the gate to Tar Valon and the world beyond! |
