*::-.Y Our
Angel of the Month Y.-:*
Every Month from here on out we will be interviewing 2 angels per month
to be in the spotlight. This helps us to get to know each other better and it's fun too!!
The spotlight this Month is on our founder,Wendy.
Y Your name...your age...marital status...number
of kids? (we all know this but humor me)! Wendy, 34, married for almost ten years to
Rick. Number of kids can vary, but there will always be at least one: Chad.
Currently Chad (5) and Landis (3 mos)
Y What is your favorite scent? I have to pick one? Sorry, I have three
for varying seasons... Lauren, Chanel #5, and Jessica McClintock
Y Your ideal romantic evening? A rooftop champagne dinner overlooking the
Inner Harbor...no other people around. Or, if that's not possible, just a night
where it's not MY shirt that gets spitup all over it.
Y Favorite foods, colors, movies?? TV shows?
Books? My favorite foods
would include, Shrimp Scampi, Steamed Maryland Blue Crabs, Prime Rib and asparagus.
Favorite color is lavender. Favorite movie (or one of them) is Pay it Forward.
TV Shows? King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond, Yes, Dear and Six Feet Under.
And books---sheesh it's been a few months since I sat down with a book... but I'd say my
favorite would have to be All American Boy by Scott Peck.
Y Where are you from? What is the one thing you
appreciate most about your hometown? I am from Logansport, Indiana.(FYI- Greg
Kinnear was my neighbor and my brother's friend...as well as an occasional baby-sitter
before I could drool in the "good" way) Growing up in a small Midwestern town
gave me a sense of security I've never found in the bigger cities I've lived in since
then. It also instilled a confidence that got me through all the adjustments of
moving so much.
Y What are your dreams? (for yourself...we
all know about dreams for your kids....):To be able to say "forever" to Chad.
To have a 95th birthday party and know I am there.
Y Why did you (join) start the Angels? I found myself saying, on the boards,
"I'm thinking of you, I wish there was more I could do" in response to peoples'
posts about trials and tribulations they were going through. I finally realized
that, while I couldn't solve the problems, many were simply posting because they just
didn't want to feel alone in times of struggling...what better way to let them know others
cared than a small "pick-me-up"?
Y If you were running for Miss America, which
competition would you really suck at? I did (a preliminary, not the actual televised
pageant). I won the interview competition, placed well in bathing suit and evening
gown and would have won were it not for my incredibly embarrassing lack of talent and the
placing in that area. Ever seen that episode of Spin City where they find that old
tape to bribe Amanda? My worst nightmare.
YIf you had one goal for your kids what would it
be? Find something you are
good at and enjoy and stick with it -- it will bring you success in life.
Y If the people that knew you best had to
describe you in one word what would it be? Proud.
Y If you could go back and do one thing over in
your life what would it be? As
a teenager, I would have tried . AT ANYTHING...just not floated through the years
waiting for life to tell me what to do.
Y If you could change one thing to make the world
a better place what would it be? World
Peace. (Oh wait...this isn't for the Miss America question?) If I could change one
thing it would be the power of passing on a good feeling. AN obligation that, if you
are feeling happy because of something someone did for you that you MUST pass that on to
someone.
Y What one thing have you learned from life? The power of both the written and spoken
word and just because others say things about you, it doesn't make them true
forever. Labels can be overcome -- people can change.
Y If you could take a trait from someone you know
and make it your own what would it be? I would take Sonya's (AydellChef) amazing
faith...as long as it didn't mean I had to TAKE it from her and leave her with MINE. :)
Y One thing that makes people know those are your
kids?? Screaming
"Moommmmmmmmmmmmmm!" and his sarcasm.
Y What is the most embarrassing thing your child
has ever said about you? Sad
but true: Chad was getting off the school bus and they had learned about drugs that day in
school, nicotine being one of them. While I try not to blatantly smoke in front of
Chad, I haven't done a good job of hiding it, either, "Mom, why you do drugs?"
I wanted the earth to swallow me up whole. Feb 25th quit date!
Y What do you want to get out of being an Angel? Nothing. If I'd started this group with the
idea of getting something, it would not be the group it is and what I wanted it to become.
Y What is the one thing you do in the privacy of
your own home when no one else is around that we would be shocked to know? Laundry.
Thanks for taking part
in the spotlight Wendy!!
