01/27/03 - Sorry if I haven't responded to your email yet.  But I've got lots going on in my life and I'm enjoying taking a break from trading.  I'll post here when I'm ready to get back into it.

RULES

1.  Please be honest about the quality of your shows.  I check my boots carefully and give detailed info.  I'd like the same in return.  I especially want to know if the show's incomplete or any songs are cut.
2.  Keep in touch throughout our trade.  Don't disappear for weeks (or months) without warning.
3.  Use these CD-R brands:  Fuji (Japan-made only!), Taiyo-Yuden, Pioneer, Kodak Gold Ultima, Verbatim.  No generics, Memorex, Maxell, TDK or Sony.  If you send a brand we haven't agreed upon, I'll ask you to re-send.  Sorry, I can't afford to re-burn the crappy discs people send me.  I'm tired of people ignoring the rules here & even my email requests.   (I know I used to accept TDK and Sony, but they're crappy quality these days.  The ones I have are visibly deteriorating, despite being new.  So I want to stay away from them from now on.)
4.  Burn DAO (Disc At Once), no faster than 4x.  I highly recommend this free program for ripping.
5.  Please don't write on the CDs, or stick post-it notes directly on them - they can remove data.  Don't use scotch-tape (or any kind of tape) on the CD either!  Put a note on the sleeve, or write on the disc's center plastic ring, or just let me figure out what's what.  Use padded envelopes to mail the CDs.
6.  Please include setlists and/or artwork, if you have any, and I'll do the same.
7.  I've trusted strangers and been disappointed, so I have to change my rule and ask that if you approach me for the trade, you send first.  Unless we've traded before and I know I can trust you.
8.  All my shows are on CD now, but I'm willing to trade DATs or Maxell XL II tapes for rare shows.
9.  Speaking of wants, unless I'm very busy, I'm not limited to the artists on my Most Wanted List below.  Although I have some precious boots I will only trade for certain artists (details on those artists pages).

In general I'm also looking for:
VCDs - I can't make video CDs (not the kind that work in DVD players anyway) but I'd be glad to trade my audio CDs for them.  Besides music videos and concerts, I'm looking for favorite TV shows.  I'd love VCDs (or regular data CDs with decent quality video files) of:  Daria, Family Ties, Felicity, Flash Forward, Fraggle Rock, Gilmore Girls, Jem, Powerpuff Girls, Prey, Relativity, She-Ra (yeah I'm feeling nostalgic for the 80's) and others.

Radio Sessions - Why do so few people trade them?  Doesn't anyone tape things off the radio?  They're the easiest boots to make!  But it's almost impossible to find decent FM recordings.  Yeah I'm picky but my FM masters are excellent.  Most of the sessions I receive end up being webcasts, not off the actual radio.  Unlike a lot of traders, I always tell you if it's a webcast.  I've often had to settle for web versions of KCRW shows (somebody please help me upgrade them!)  And I'd love more Edge 102, Real Time, World Cafe, Acoustic Cafe, Mt. Stage, WBCN, WFNX, WFUV, Modern Rock Live, etc of artists I like.

Lilith Fair - Here's another thing I'm surprised I can't find more of, considering how many Lilith dates there were.  So many shows, yet so few recordings circulating!  Maybe I'm just not part of the right trading clique.  It seems that most of the Lilith Fair boots out there are poor quality analog recordings - so maybe a lot of the shows haven't made their way onto CD yet, from the DAT traders community.  (If anyone needs help transferring their shows to CD, from DAT or cassette, I'd love to help!)

Demos/Outtakes/Unreleased Albums - I'm a musical voyeur, I guess.  It's fascinating to hear these things the artists never intended us to hear.   And the music they wanted to release - but couldn't for whatever reason - (label thought it wouldn't sell, etc).  A few things I'm curious to hear:  the album Joe Jackson produced for Jill Sobule.  And, don't laugh - Phil Spector's work with Celine Dion.

If you have no live recordings to trade, I'm always interested in collecting vinyl and cd singles, promos, concert photos, and other rarities of my favorite artists.  If you have any extras you want to get rid of in exchange for boots, feel free to contact me and we'll work something out!
