Testimonial: Once
in a while, I get a boot that makes up for all the volume drop outs / glitches
/ non DAO cd's / clicks / poor recordings / bad transfers / being ripped
off.....a boot which reminds me of the greatness of what we do after I
get a pile of WAY overgraded shows....a boot which, hey, you get the idea....well,
today I got one :)))))) THANK YOU SO MUCH ! ~Paul

HIGH TOPS (a.k.a
best traders) |
Paul |
|
Definitely the nicest trader I've met - very
friendly and accomodating. The first person to go out of his way
to record shows for me, which I really appreciate! He's honest and
has the same high standards I do, when it comes to boots. And I like
the fact that Paul gives positive feedback, unlike a lot of traders who
are "too cool" to show enthusiasm, and just treat a trade like an impersonal
business deal. |
Larry |
|
He's a laidback and easygoing trader - but
don't take advantage of that and keep his stuff for a year! I can't
get over how he lets people borrow his masters, and gives without expecting
the same back - he doesn't seem to keep score. After dealing
with so many stingy, hoard-the-music types, it's great to find a trader
like Larry, who seems to genuinely care about sharing the music. |
Mariana |
|
It's no exaggeration to say Mariana is the
ideal trader - Patient, generous, trusting and trustworthy.
Also easy to talk to. And of course, she sends great shows on great
quality discs. I really enjoy dealing with her because I know it
will be a stress-free trade. |
Erin |
|
We've only traded once so far, but Erin still
deserves to be on this list. Quick to send emails, cds and setlists.
Flexible and understanding of delays. And like my other favorite
traders, you can trust her to grade shows accurately, use good discs, etc.
If there were any problems, she'd be willing to fix them. |

Another nice guy, despite his great collection!
In my experience people with rare stuff (& famous friends) are a pain
to deal with - they're usually full of themselves. But Matt's an
exception. I'm grateful that he trusts me to transfer his rarities
for him. |

HEELS (a.k.a bad traders)
|

She's changed her identity
and moved her website, but she can't escape the wrath of the traders she's
wronged! If it's any consolation to all you folks who never got what
she owed you - you would have been disappointed by the quality of
the shows anyway. I'm one of the few who eventually got stuff
from her. Disappointing, considering the A+ shows she got from me.
What she calls an A, I'd give a C. She said my choices sounded
great, but they turned out to be hissy, tinny, and incomplete. Don't
expect her to tell you if songs are cut. Do expect her to be petty
and complain if you tape cases together to keep them flat in the package,
so the discs don't get jostled around and possibly damaged in transit.
Yeah she had to find something wrong with my end of the trade (after
I had expressed my unhappiness) and that's the best she could do.
She even added a "no sticky residue" rule to her site! I'm honoured, and
I dedicate my #1 rule to her. So don't be tempted by her huge
collection. It's a case of quantity over quality, which would be
fine if she was honest about it and gave accurate descriptions. |

He asked to see my
entire list, which I typed up for him (no webpage then). We went
through the process of choosing boots and arranging the many discs he wanted
- I answered all his questions and looked up info for him. Waste
of time. When I asked a few simple questions about the shows I
wanted,
suddenly he stopped answering my emails. Good thing actually.
Since then I've seen him on many bad traders lists. I'm lucky I didn't
send him anything, because I'm sure he wouldn't have sent mine. I
know someone who went to the trouble of transferring a bunch of cassettes
onto cds for this guy (because he wouldn't accept tapes, even though he'll
only give tapes in most cases) and she ended up stuck with extra
copies, because he vanished when she tried to get him to agree on a day
to send - He was probably hoping she'd send first and he'd never
have to mail anything to her. |

This guy contacted
me first, we worked out to send our discs on the same day, (he chose
the day and said he was ready) - It was our first trade, and a BIG trade,
but I was willing to trust him and send at the same time. Turns out
he wasn't willing to trust me though. He got the cds in less than
a week (I learned from his website), and mine hadn't shown up in 2 weeks.
I figured he waited until he got my package before sending. Despite
the fact that he approached me. When I asked exactly
when he really sent, he avoided answering the question, but insisted he
hadn't waited until he received mine. Guess he thought I wouldn't
read the postmark. The package arrived with a different date, proving
he sent late and lied. When I confronted him, his response was "You
have your discs, it doesn't matter anyways." He says he got everything
he wanted, so he doesn't care. Nice guy, eh? This experience
taught me to keep first trades small, and let people send first if they
contact me. ** Note: After hearing the cds I've discovered
the grades & sources given aren't accurate, and what's worse, skips
and pops that seem to indicate they were ripped and/or burned too quickly.
So thanks for lying to me and for ignoring my rules. Ya twit. |

What a liar and a hypocrite.
He demands high-quality cd-rs, but sent me crappy unbranded generics (precisely
what he said he didn't want to receive! The man has no shame)
In his rules he claims to use Sony and Verbatim blanks "exclusively".
A lie. On top of that my cd was only 15 min. long, which he never
bothered to tell me. I later discovered that it was just an extract
from a longer bootleg - which I would've preferred to have in it's original
complete form! He knew he was getting a much longer show from me,
but didn't care (I gave an exact length and setlist in advance - he didn't).
I should've asked for more info but I was busy and didn't think I had to
be suspicious. His fussy rules lulled me into a false sense of security.
Guess I shouldn't assume people will follow their own rules. And
I'll never again assume if someone says a show is "1 disc", he means one
FULL disc. Learned my lesson there. He was purposely vague
but I didn't press for details, so there's his loophole. But
what kind of jerk splits up a boot and trades the pieces separately, to
scam people and get more discs out of it? And when you make a definite
statement about using certain cds *exclusively* you'd better damn well
do it! |

He called off our trade when I asked him
how long one of his shows was and if it could be combined with something.
Unbelievable. This guy's just too lazy. And ungenerous.
He asked for a very rare 2 cd set from me, and only wanted to give me one
disc for it (and far from a full disc). Didn't want to show me his
list so I could choose a 2nd cd from him. Finally did, begrudgingly,
with this attitude that he was doing me such a favour and it would be *so*
much work to give me 2 shows. So of course, my asking him for basic
info like length was just too much for him. How dare I expect him
to exert himself? Well I've answered a lot more questions and worked
a lot harder on a trade, and I don't think I was asking him for too much.
In short, this trader is arrogant, lazy, and greedy. If he's
not getting more out of the trade than you, he's not interested.
He doesn't care about a fair trade. And he certainly doesn't care
about sharing the music. Why does a big ego have to go along with
a big collection? |
