"Dine Bizaad: Speak, Read, Write Navajo" by Irvy W. Goossen

If you want to learn Navajo, I suggest this book.  It is fairly easy to understand and follow.  This book is meant to teach the basic Navajo words and nothing too complicated.  You will also learn Navajo grammar!

Dine Bizaad should be used accompanied with tapes and an instructor/mentor.

Very fun to read!  Learn to say things like:

"I think Betsy is very pretty." (Betsy ayoo shil nizhoni)

"Navajo is very difficult for the white man." (Bilagaana hastiin dine bizaad ayoo bil nanl ah)

Note - I did not use glottal stops or  the glottalized consonants.

Each of the 30 chapters has a practical theme or is culturally relavant.

We used this book in a 101 level Navajo Language class at the University of New Mexico.
