Question: The first disc, I can only read about 27 minutes of it, and after that, nothing can be read from the disc, the second one I need to strugle to read it. It will play for a while, and then everything will freeze, as in the computer can't read the datas, and I have to take it out, and reinsert, and then it will be fine, but its getting worse and worse after about 17 minutes that later I just can't make it to read. And the third is also unable to read too well after first 17 minutes or so. The frame always seem to freeze. I use a DVD rom to read the discs

Answer: DVD/DVD-ROM drives are still not standardized, therefore it's not a surprise to find them unable to play the VCDs. However, since we're able to play the discs, we advise you to either get the latest updated ROM from your DVD-ROM manufacturer or play it on CDROM drives (1998 ROM Models from established hardware manufacturers which had established their proven track records in the Video CD arena. E,g, JVC/SONY/Philips 1998 models and newer).

Question:There is something wrong with the 2 discs that I received and it is really upsetting me. For both the discs, the 2nd part of the show starts to jerk. The sound is faster than the picture and when the show progress you can actually see it move frame by frame!! The screen changes bit by bit giving a jerking motion. I wonder if it was damaged in the post. The first parts of both discs are fine. I can return the discs to see for yourself.

Answer:Just in case the problem is with the ROM with the VCD player, check the manufacturing date of the ROM of your VCD player. If you do not know how to do that, a simplier way would be just to check the manufacturing date of your VCD player (i.e. manufacturing dates on or after 1998, accomplished brands such as JVC, Philips, Sony (later models), Pioneer). (i.e. Just to be sure, what's the brand & model of your VCD player ? Taiwanese & Chinese brands (including Toshiba models) are mostly not up to standards).

Earlier VCD formats will work fine on both new & older players. However, newer formats cannot be read by earlier players.(Which is why certain VCD players are sold at discounts/really low prices. These VCD players might most probably be unable to recognise the new formats). in fact, we've tested certain newer format VCDs and either they will jerk/stop after a certain number of minutes or cannot be played on earlier videocd players and earlier CDROM drives. However, when tested on 1998 models (latest models) of both VideoCD players and CDROM drives, the VCDs runs without any problems from beginning till end. (Which is why we advice you to upgrade the rom of your videocd player or CDROM drive.)

Question:Which kind of VCD/DVD players is the best ?

Answer:There isn't any objective answer to the above question. However, there's a very important thing to remember when you intend to buy VCD/DVD players. Never, ever, buy a VCD/DVD player based on hearsay or cheap prices. The best VCD/DVD players are those that can play all sorts of VCDs, all the latest current VCD standards. Therefore, when buying, just bring along VCDs that you can't play on your CDROM drives/older VCD players etc, together with the VCDs that you can play. In essence, test the VCD/DVD player that you intend to buy with every type of VCD possible. Make sure that they all work before buying it.

Question:Which kind of CDROM/DVD-ROM drives is the best ?

Answer:Same as the above question, there isn't any objective answer to the above question. Don't buy them based on cheap prices alone. However, normally you can't test your CDROM/DVD-ROM drives before buying. Therefore, it's extremely important to find out the response of other (i.e. knowledgeable) people who had bought that brand of CDROM/DVD-ROM drives. Secondly, always go for established brands and which supports all the latest standards (i.even though, they might cost slightly more, but it'll be worth your worth).
