Manly

Many people consider Manly the most beautiful suburb of Sydney - and so do we. As you can see on the map, Manly is located on a narrow peninsula with access to Pacific and harbour side beaches. It is a lively place to stay, and not far away from the city centre. It takes about 30 mins by ordinary and 15 mins by catamaran ferry to get there, with magnificent views all the way...

The best of Manly! We stayed right in the centre of the upper picture, i.e. in the middle of that narrow part with both (Pacific and harbourside) beaches and the Corso near at hand.

This is one part of our little studio appartment...

... and this the other one. If you are interested in visiting Sydney yourself, we can recommend Manly Waterside Holiday appartments which offer excellent value for money and a great location. We booked online and would be happy to give you more information.

Manly Wharf - where the ferries arrive or depart.

Manly Aquarium opposite the wharf, and next to the harbourside beach. Here you can see frightening sharks or stingrays, fish of all kinds... it is difficult to say which of the two Aquariums (Darling Harbour or Manly) is better...

The Corso - pedestrian area and centre of Manly. By accident we just arrived in Manly on the world famous "Jazz Festival" weekend - as we were too tired of the flight and jet lag, we were unable to enjoy it, however. Otherwise, the Corso is THE place for shopping and going out.

Manly Beach (Pacific side of peninsula).

And again the Pacific side beach, where you can occasionnally see dolphins or even whales, and always a lot of surfers enjoying the waves!

Sunset on the beach.

Join us on a walk from Manly to Spit Bridge through one of the Sydney Harbour national parks (marked in the map above). Here we have a nice view back on Manly, with a ferry just arriving!

Pretty wild nature here on the walking track...

... with all kinds of birds to see and even more to hear, among others these strange pigeons...

... and the famous Rainbow Lorikeets...

... as well as the even more famous laughing Kookaburras. As our own pictures did not come out well, here a postcard view.

Beautiful view over the harbour with Sydney skyline in the background...

... and Gerhard in front.
