Northern Beaches -
from North Head (Manly) to Barrenjoey Headland
Here you can see an overview of the part of the coastline which we travelled together
with Carol and Reg: from North Head, the peak of Manly peninsula, to Barrenjoey lighthouse
on the peak of Barrenjoey peninsula at the mouth of Hawkesbury River.
By the way: Marked on the map is also the place where we stayed in Manly - corner Darley Road and
Wentworth Street, next to the Corso, halfway between the Pacific and harbourside beaches!
Here we look in the other direction, i.e. from the Northern Beaches back towards
Manly peninsula as well as North and South Head, at the entrance of Sydney harbour.
Carol and Reg together with Sabine on North Head, with Sydney skyline in the
background. Carol and Reg were Sabine's host family for 5 weeks in 1995, when she
stayed in Australia to study English at the Australian College of English in Manly.
Sydney skyline seen from North Head lookout, magnificently illuminated just before
a thunderstorm started!
And the same gorgeous view in bright sunshine.
A statue to honour the Hawaiian man who introduced surfing to Australia in the 1920s -
today THE sport along the entire Australian coastline!
This is not Manly peninsula but Barrenjoey Headland at the mouth of Hawkesbury River
(postcard view) - if you have a close look you can see the old lighthouse which we climbed
up to together with Reg!

Palm Beach.
Along the way winding up to the lighthouse, we spotted, among others, this
little fellow under a rock!

Thanks Carol and Reg for a great day!!!
